“Old-style Brussels at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

I had a quick lunch with my 70-year-old father and 12-year-old sun here on a Saturday. We had no reservation but got a nice table almost by the window. The waiter was very friendly and and helpful, got us drinks very quickly, and then took our order as soon as we were ready. The menu is traditional Brussels style, with all the usual choices, and with pretty reasonable prices too. The food arrived rather quickly (as the place wasn't too packed) and turned out to be really nice - fresh, tasty, and good-size portions. The decor of this place is exceptional, really nice old Brussels style, and the view straight to Grand Place makes it even better. So, in brief, a unusually nice combination of friendly service, great food, and exceptional decor in a prime location.

“As good as ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

We have dined here several times over the past few years and haven't been able to fault it and this time was no different.
It's a very atmospheric place with loads of character in a prime location on the Grand Place and were fortunate enough to secure a window seat so we could soak up the atmosphere and watch the world go by.
Our meal was excellent and we enjoyed superb service from Serge, even following his beer recommendations. His polite and helpful approach put the icing on the cake for us and we will certainly be back there when we next visit Brussels.

“Improved”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

I last ate in here a few years ago and have avoided it ever since. I think it has changed hands a few times in the last 13 years when I first had an excellent meal here. It's been going downhill ever since but we decided to give it another go. It was a pleasant surprise. Good selection of beers and even reasonably (for Belgium) priced wines. The food isn't anything special but is reasonably priced considering the location, right on Grand Place. It's also consciously representative of Belgian "beer cuisine" and not a bad example.

We found the rather camp service amusing, but not everyone will agree with that.

“Not as I remembered!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Lovely memories of past visits here but this time we were a little disappointed. It's a lovely restaurant on the beautiful Grand Place and not bad value for money. However my French onion soup was a tasteless bowl of stock with onion and onion peeling. My salmon wasn't good and my veg tinned or frozen. Customer service and location superb!

Hello - Thank you very much for your feedback - We are very concerned about customers opinion - We do cook everything in-house with fresh products - I am very sorry that you did not like our food - I passed your comment to the chef - I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you again at La Rose Blanche. Best Regards, Julien

“A little disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

We used to live in Brussels and had fond memories of La Rose Blanche, so returned when we visited for a long weekend. The location, quaintness and service were superb, just as we remembered. The food however, was a little disappointing. The cheese croquettes were very good, but the onion soup was basically a beef stock with onions boiled in the stock, not as we remembered. The carbonnade was good but the chips came in a bowl, traditionally these come in a cone. The salmon was not good, tasteless with tinned vegetables. We may return to see if this was just a bad day but certainly not the amazing place we remembered !
