Adagio Brussels Grand Place
Ranked #41 of 199 Hotels in Brussels
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 21, 2011

I'm spending a couple of months at the Adagio, while in Brussels for work. More than adequate, the Adagio is perfectly located, with an entrance to De Brouckere metro station adjacent to the front door. Dozens of restaurants and bars - the best thing about Brussels - are a short walk away.

The Adagio is clean and well-maintained, with a communal lounge on the second floor. Staff are courteous and efficient. Security is with card passes. There is a full array of services offered, but usually at grossly inflated prices, which is my only complaint. A desultory breakfast buffet is €13 (€11 with long-term stay). A small load of laundry costs €5 to wash, and €2.50 to dry (you need to run two cycles), making it €10 for a small load to wash and dry. Dry-cleaning is €10 per pair of trousers.

All in all though, a good place for an extended stay in Brussels.

Stayed here for 3 nights in December for leisure / sight seeing trip to Brussels (our first visit here).

Can't say that Brussles is our favourite European City but this hotel was really good. We had a one bedroom apartment with spearate lounge, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. It was clean, tidy and comfortable. The kitchen is useful and provides lots of fleixibility (although the town centre offers lots of options for restaurants and fast food outlets). One minor comment was that the shower head was broken but that aside this is really good value accomodation, in a good location that provides lots of flexibility for visiting Brussels.

The guys on reception were excellent - polite and really helpful - they provided us with a city map and a list of all the key things we ought to try and see in the city. Top marks and of all our visits to hotels across the world these guys were amongst the best.

I have stayed at Adagio for 4 nights during my visit in Brussels for Business. Its a great Value for money hotel, great location (right next to de brouckere metro station and 5 min walk to grand Place), wooden flooring, nice design furniture, very clean room and bathroom and comfortable beds. Breakfast is not something whao but it provides the essentials. I will sure reccomend it to other colleagues and will definately stay there again!!!

Having previously stayed in one of the Adagio's single room apartments I wanted to sample their slightly more upmarket two room offering. It also meant I was less likely to get complaints from my travelling colleague who worried about having to pull a bed down from the wall!
The Adagio provides excellent comfort for anyone fancying a self catering opportunity. This one bedroom apartment provided twin beds in a separate room from the usual living accommodation. Single TV that could be easily angled to be viewed from the beds and a settee and desk were found in the living area.
Kithchen area came complete with fridge, dishwasher, hob, microwave etc.
Not cheap at €180 room only but this is the problem with being in Brussels immediately before Christmas. Ordinarily you should be able to pick up this type of room for less.
No problems at all with the place and I will look to stay there again in future.

One of the best locations you could get in Brussels. It was our first time in an aparthotel and we appreciated the extra amenities. Right on top of metro, a few minutes away from the very center, entrance from a big, safe boulevard, lots of shopping, eating and pubbing choices, even a few casinos and nightclubs i think, though these arent't exactly our dish.

No important issues with this hotel, just that the small kitchen module wasn't very clean, the power switches also had some old dirt left on them. Also, room cleaning follows a rather unusual pattern, with daily cleaning for 1-3 days visits, no cleaning for 4-6 days and weekly cleaning for more than a week. We stayed for 5 nights, so bad luck for us.

Adagio is a apartment hotel chain, a joint venture of Accor Hotels chain and Pierre&Vacances holiday lodging chain. The concept of Adagio seems to work well.

Location:
Adagio Brussels Centre Monnaie is located in the northwest corner of the "old town" of Brussels, between Grand Place and Place Sainte Catherine. The hotel is in the corner of a commercial block and there is an access to "de Brouckere" metrostation in the same building next door. Within 500 meters there are is a huge amount of shops, services, restaurants and tourist attractions. The location is almost perfect for a weekend tourist. As Boulevard Anspach/Anspachlaan is a very lively street, there is some noise from the street 24/7 but the sound isolation is pretty good. Access from the airport by taxi (some 45 eur) or Gare du Nord by metro is easy. Metro also takes you quickly e.g. to the EU administration area and many other key locations.

Reception:
Upon arrival, the reception was friendly, attentive and efficient. We got all the necessary info about the practicals, as well as some information about the services available nearby. We were also introduced the breakfast, as the breakfast is charged by the reception.

Room:
The studio room we selected for the short stay was generally ok. The kitchenette (fridge, dishwasher, microwave, hob, coffee maker, water kettle) is a nice extra, even though a three-night stay here is within the time limit of the full services normal hotel stay option. The bed is convertible to a sofa by lifting it up to the wall, but it is a real bed of good quality. The simple decoration meets the standard of a *** hotel, but is modern and functional. If you prefer traditional hotel decorations, this is not for you.

The studio room already is ok size, plenty of storage space, separated toilet (very small) and bathroom (small). Everything was clean and tidy, no complaints. There is a small flatscreen TV with some 20 European channels, would prefer a bigger one as the price would be the same. Internet is free of extra charge. There is a hardwood style laminate floor at least in the non smoking room. There are rooms with windows facing (inside) to the shopping mall, ours was around the corner from the main street.

Breakfast:
The breakfast was OK, the selection was a bit small and simple for the price of 13 EUR, but the quality of everything offered was good. Coffee, tea, chocolate, scramble, sausages, cheeses and charcuterie, bread, toast, baguette, croissants, sweet bakeries, fromage frais with apple compote, yoghurt, 3 juices, fruit salad etc. All we missed really was boiled eggs and some vegetables. The small modern decorated breakfast room was nice and clean. In connection with the breakfast room there is a small lounge with a vending machine, some papers and internet access.
