“Terrific Lunch Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

Loved Noordzee. It’s a simple seafood stand about 10 minutes from the Grand Place, but very popular and very good. Gets a little tough to order at times with the crowd and, in my case, the language barrier, but the food was worth the trouble. I got shrimp croquettes, tasty and filling, paired with a beer. My wife got the herring (delicious and fresh) and white wine. As others have mentioned, you’re at the mercy of the weather, but on a sunny day it’s a great lunch break and fun experience. Also interesting to look in the poisonnierie itself, with its selection of fish and prepared dishes, was mouth-watering. Definitely a worthwhile stop.

“Excellent Place for your middle of the day apero”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

Enjoy a glass, or better a bottle, of champagne (25€) chatting with your friends at the Mer du Nord. Shrimp croquettes, hot fish soup, kibbelings, couteaux or even a freshly baked slice of tuna. The joy of eating quality street food while spotting the fashion victims of the close by Dansaert Street. Certainly a must do for any tourist. Come early (before 12h) as it gets very crowded.

“Have a great time in an awesome place...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

This place is an institution in Brussels. This place is great, the fish really fresh and well prepared. We usually go once a week for snack: grilled calamaries, maatjes (herrings), grilled fish... with a litle glass of wine. It's perfect. The atmosphere is really friendly and casual, everybody is standing in the street chatting and enjoying the food even in the winter. If you go for a walk at Place St Catherine, make defenetely a stop there!

“Awesome place full of character!”

Great little place! When we were there, they were serving delicious fish stew and plates of raw oysters. You eat standing up at little tables and watch the bustling on the street
