“Very homely Appearance”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

We popped in for hot chocolate and cake. My young daughter needed to use the toilet . We went upstairs and an old lady was stood outside charging us 30 cents each to use a dingy little toilet ! We were going to go back for a night time meal but having to pay to use a restaurant toilet was disgusting . Wouldn't go back

“Get for Drinks and an Appetizer”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

We were looking for a little more than this established restaurant had to offer due to dinner being served much later in the evening. However, with it's fire pits and medieval wood interior it called us in out of the rain and cold.

According to a Belgian friend, they offered a fine selection of regional beers and appetizers were again seafood or small plates.

A beautiful building from 1695, Jean Cocteau called the restaurant and adjoining theater "The most beautiful in the world."

“Nice decor, terrible food”
Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

The place is terrific, nicely decorated and situated on the Grand-Place, perfect to watch the world go by. My advice: stop for just a drink, our food was drowned in salt!

“Well placed to watch the world go by”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Sat down mid afternoon whilst waiting to walk down to Gare Midi for our Eurostar connection. The bar/restaurant is well placed to watch the world go by positioned, as it is, in one corner of the Grand Place. outside the restaurant there is a deck with more tables and chairs. This is where we sat, it was quite busy but nice sitting in the sun (not so nice when the clouds came over!).
Only 2 waiters serving what must have been 20 odd tables so the wait for service was quite long but no real problem for us as we were in no hurry. Menu's were, more or less, lobbed onto the table by a waiter in passing. I asked for a hot chocolate and a tea and eventually served with hot chocolate and coffee. I returned the coffee and then had a bit of a wait for my tea. Euro 7.60 (almost £7) for the 2 drinks is fairly high (almost to Rome standards!!) but this is common in and around the Grand Place.

In conclusion, it's OK, saved by it's location, I would probably have been more irritated by the service and price if we had been in a cafe off the Grand Place.
