“Great place that I stumbled in on”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

So, I'll be honest. I was walking around trying to find the Grand Place (which is very close by) after a few beers, that are much stronger than I'm used to. I need to use the restroom more than anything, and come across a tripadvisor sign. It's never lead me wrong before! I use the restroom, and of course oblige the gracious host by ordering a flight of their beer. I have never had a Lambic at this point, and really didn't know what a "sour" beer was until then. The flight was the best way to go for sure, for someone who doesn't really know what they're in for. The food was spot on, great sausage and cheese, and just an overall great experience. The place is pretty much a small drinking hall, long tables, as well as a few small ones near the bar. Very cozy. Don't expect the hosts to be too friendly to people stumbling in, and ordering drinks. Be polite, not too loud, and enjoy the experience. It's truly one that I'm glad I fell into. (Literally).

“Secret Hide away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

Super original pub just yards away from the Grande Place but at the end on an alley that only those in the know can find. Been here for years and a 'wow' for visitors.

“Great Character”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

We usually go to A La Morte Subite or A L'Image Nostre Dame but we enjoyed a new bar in Brussels, A La Becasse, which translates as the Woodcock. It is not far from A L'Image Nostre Dame, and you can find it by following the smell of Waffles - It is down an alley next to the Waffle shop!
They serve 2 types of Lambic beer in jugs; Doux (sweet) or Witte. the Doux is very sweet and almost tastes like a cider. They also have a Blond beer on tap; Mais, which is very light but have a good choice of bottled beers such as Chimay. They serve food and we had the selection of salami and cheese. definitely worth a visit for the great character of the room and the table service was excellent but limited for draft beer.

“What a disappointment!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

I was really looking forward to visiting this traditional Belgium pub. What a disappointment! Rude and unhelpful staff, a lack of atmosphere and very expensive. Just around the corner next to St. Nicolas Church are several much nicer establishment for a beer and bite!

“Very traditional Belgian "brown pub" with home brew beer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

In Belgium, this is what we would call a brown pub, a dark bar, where you can easily talk and enjoy a good drink. Try their home brew beers (Gueuze and Lambic) and enjoy the Belgian snacks.
