“Exquisite food, very helpful staff, a real treat in Brussels”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

A warm March evening in Brussels! Turned up around 2100hrs no reservation, no problem. About half full, perhaps ten other people.

Waitress patiently took us through the menu at least three times!
On offer was a taster menu for eur65 and a la carte. We chose the latter. One starter was a beautifully cooked grilled asparagus with added tasting elements.. won't spilt the surprise. To say I had two boiled eggs would be a travesty. Stuffed with a delicate mix based on chanterelles.
White wine by the glass. My main two lovely pink pigeons, cooked to perfection.
We stayed talking and ended up the last to leave by some margin; no effort to push us out. Overall: a shade on the expensive side (eur 69 with two courses, one glass wine, water and expresso) but a delicious taste.
A welcome place to eat in Ixelles. Recommended.

“Fine dining in the centre of Brussels”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

If you look for top cuisine for an affordable price, you're at the right address. Took the day menu with accompanying wines. Food was exquisite, regional niche wines, superb cheesecake as dessert, delicious mignardises(great macaron eg). Try their rosé sparkling wine to start with, you won't be disappointed! The information by the waiter is as good as all the rest! I'll be back!

“Inventive, ambitious and slightly overpriced. But if you forgive the pretense, you'll have a great evening.”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

El Bulli has a lot to answer for. This is another fusion between molecular and classic cuisine. It's not a bad choice for a memorable evening out, but don't have too high expectations. Every dish looks great, has at least two unusual characteristics and holds great conversation value. On the other hand, from a culinary perspective, not all efforts succeed. The menu varies from day to day, so my experiences are anecdotal but probably quite representative. The entree was a salad of beans and squid and icecream octopus ink. A solid dish, well prepared, but it remained slightly flat. An outspoken herb like cilantro (coriander) would've done wonders. A similar flatness plague another entree, an ensemble of oyster mousse, herb coulis and chopped oyster, served in an egg shell. The chef's signature dish, it was quite satisfying but lacked a bit of freshness, acidity, bite. Dessert was simply delicious, luke-warm ravioli with frangipane and abricot mousse. It left you wishing for a larger portions, but that was true for all dishes. All in all, the food doesn't come cheap and it doesn't entirely deliver on it's pretentions. Therefore a guarded recommendation.

“Great food, good value, friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended.”

Thus petite restaurant is a absolute beauty. Menu is brilliant, focused selection of food beautifully crafted dishes and perect portion sizes. Interstesting yet classical creations balance well with wines selections. Really enjoyed the night. Friendly staff really made this experience complete. Ignore any reviews that mark this anything other than very very good.
