“If you don't have a choice, make it a short stay”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

In summary, I feel harsh giving a rating of poor, but it wouldn't take much to get it right.

I often HAVE to stay to here (I'd choose not to if I had a choice) due to location. It is one of the better hotels in area (there is one other). Avoid the classic rooms at all costs, after a 'classic room' experience I understood why so many people commit suicide in hotel rooms. Hotel staff can be variable in helpfulness. The interior is pretty awful: there is a residual 'essence' of cigarettes everywhere, maintenance is pretty poor, and interior is cheap. Fitness facilities are abundant, though the gym is more a graveyard of retired gym equipment; it is possible to get a cardiovascular and weights workout (though make sure your tetanus shot it up to date). There is nice jogging route - if a little like being on the set of the Blair Witch Project. The only feature of the hotel, which I can be absolutely positive about if the restaurant - excellent food, wine and service - quite a treat. Menu doesn't change very often, but offers a good variety. Word of caution - make sure you're in time for dinner (19:00 - 21:30 (I think)), and book a table when you make a reservation, otherwise you might starve (happened to me the first time I stayed, thank god for those mini pretzels they give out on the plane in the bottom of my bag) - when the kitchen's closed that's it!

Accommodating for the business traveler - not really
Fitness facilities - pretty good
WiFi - free, but totally unreliable and poor speed (you'd be better to phone someone and get them to talk the bytes down the phone)
Toiletries - don't bother - bring your own.

Room Tip: Avoid a classic room. Junior suits are good, but in the 'Garden Wing' rooms are cold and dam...

My second stay there. Old building, relatively well maintained and generally clean. Beds are on the old side and do not live nearly to the heavenly bed standards. Room size varies from 16 - 18 sq. meters to twice that size.

Depending on the room location, you may or may not have any internet access: only wireless is available, and the building has old, thick, stone walls.

Staff are very friendly, service-oriented and helpful.

Decent breakfast - pastries, eggs, crepes, cold cuts (turkey, ham cotto i crudo)

Drive to and from the hotel to the main road involves a narrow stretch of street, but the drivers are generally courteous and it this is not a problem for careful drivers.

Room Tip: Pick a room close to the router - this is the only chance to have a working internet connection.

We stayed in the hotel for New Year's eve... We stayed in room 524, not in the main building but a separate place, very damp and humid. Horrible smell - impossible to sleep coz so stincky. Very basic hotel even if the bathroom was recently renovated. Lack of taste and charm in the decoration. SABENA : such a bad experience, never again!

Room Tip: Maybe to stay in the main building, not in the wings.

Stayed at this hotel twice with work and on both accounts my colleagues and I were disappointed with the service received.

- the answer to almost any request at the reception is an automatic 'no'.
- information offered about things to do, how to get to places, etc are generally negative and not accurate.
(it is indeed very easy to get to Brussels from the hotel, it is possible thru the train and it is reliable and inexpensive. Indeed there are restaurants close by accessible with a short taxi ride.)
- The WiFi is patchy at best. You are much better off crossing it out of your expectations
- There is absolutely no food to eat outside of the service times. If you arrive after lunch and before dinner at 7pm, there is nothing to eat and they will not allow you to order food in.

Breakfast is nice.
Room is small but charming
The venue is beautiful and peaceful

Perhaps a nice place for a retired couple to spend time outside the city but not a business hotel or one for kids (zero flexibility in service) or anyone wishing to use this hotel and its support services to explore the region.

Second experience was a confirmation, we will not return.

Room Tip: Do your research about how to get to places and things to do. Do not take advice from the front desk...

We spent our honeymoon in this hotel last year and wanted to go back to have a relaxing short stay. It was a very nice moment again. The location and the building are full of charm. The restaurant is delicious, it was one of our best meal. It was a pity the tv system didn't work but the staff was nice and polite.

The Chateau de Limelette is a beautiful Anglo-Norman residence in the middle of a hilly forest area about one hour south of Brussels. We got a promotional price including breakfast and 4 hours in the spa from their website and the hotel is definitely worth a visit.

The room (prestige) was quite big (we did not have problems finding it, the reception gives out a little map now with the key card) with a recently renovated bathroom (separate toilet), nice bedding, free bottled water and a balcony. Unfortunately, we had a bad smell in the room like sewage, but it aired out quickly and in defense of the hotel I have to say that it rained for three days straight before we got there, so we let that one go. However, no German TV channel, pity.

The spa looks renovated and is clean and modern, mainly Moroccan décor. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the pool and rest area were quite crowed, but the sauna and the very recommendable hammam were mostly empty. However, I would only use the spa, if included in the rate.

The best thing is the outstanding restaurant! We had a wonderful dinner that really made our stay. It is not on the cheap side, but make a reservation beforehand anyway (very nice email contact with the staff) and try to get a table in the lovely sunroom!

Tip: If you are a comic fan, visit the Musee Hergé in close by Louvain-La-Neuve.

It was very lovely on the outside, and the location was nice set in the back of a beautiful neighborhood. The main part of the hotel was nice, but the farther back you got it became very dated. There was new paint, but it felt like the room hadn't been updated in 20 years. The size of the room was quite large, but the sofa bed was awful. The restaurant was not quite family friendly, but the staff was excellent and our children behaved themselves, so we had a nice time.
