Earlier in the year we were in Ghent and ate at one of the three Amadeus restaurants there (which was great). So,we were pleasantly surprised that they also have 2 in Antwerp. We ate at the St-Paulusplaats branch, just off the main square, which sticks to their tried and tested formula. Most people opt for the rack of ribs with a bit of salad and a baked potato in a lovely garlicky sauce. At 16.95 euros a winner, particularly as it is all you can eat and waiters wander round with more ribs and spuds. They also do prawns, waterzooi (a Belgian dish of meat or fish, spuds and gravy)
If you want wine, they bring a massive bottle to the table, but you pay by the centimeter, depending on how much you drink. I stuck to dark beer though, which went well with the ribs.
The interior is filled with books and knick-knacks and is a very pleasant dining experience. The Antwerp branch wasn't as full as the Ghent one we ate at, which is odd as we were in Ghent on a rainy March Monday, whereas we were in Antwerp on a sunny Thursday. This may be due to the fact that Ghent is a student town and students love their cheap eats.
Staff are nice too.
