I am Thai and I have lived in Bangkok about 20 years therefore I can guarantee that you hardly find such a taste in Thailand. Because today many Thai dishes in Thailand are too strong. I mean too sweet, too spicy or too salty and a lot of strange combination; for example, baby corn in fried Basil.
Back to Sombat, I love his food. It was a perfect combination of the taste.
Although many reviews claimed that the full course takes very long time, personally I think it's not unless you familiar with speed food culture today. Since the price is very high, I prefer to spend my time as long as I wish.
In short, I would love to come back again when I have a chance. Even I have to drive from France : P

We decided to go there because I'd seen it's high rating on trip advisor, but clearly I hadn't looked through the reviews properly. When we arrived we were told that there's a set menu of 6 dishes, which I was not expecting. Again, maybe if I'd checked the website before going I wouldn't have had this surprise.
Food: Very nice food, some of it quite spicy. The mix of the flavours was really well done, the presentation was beautiful and the taste was good. But to be honest we didn't leave with a feeling of "wow" for it. It was tasty food but nothing amazing.
Atmosphere: The restaurant is in the owner's house, so the atmosphere is quite homely and relaxed with chilled music in the background. The only problem about that was that the meal takes almost 3 hours so between the low lighting, chilled music and the food, you start to get sleepy pretty early on. However it's a nice place to go with your significant other as the atmosphere is quite romantic.
Staff: Very friendly and attentive. Every time they bring you a dish they take a minute to explain what's in it.
Price: This is where I was not happy; I felt it was too expensive. Ok, so you get a lot of food (you'll definitely be stuffed by the end), an aperitif and dessert, but I really was not expecting it to be €60 per person. My boyfriend however said he was expecting that amount, so maybe I'm just not used to prices in Belgium (I'm Spanish).
Overall: We found the whole experience quite pleasant and really enjoyed the food. However I'm pretty certain we won't be going back. Main reasons are the meal takes almost 3 hours, the food is good but it's nothing amazing, and the price is a bit much.

Dear Ainhoa S.
Thank you for sharing us your food experience at our private home. Good to know that you enjoyed our food and also the friendly good service and atmosphere.

I'm sorry that you were disappointed in what you expected and the price is too expensive for you.( 6 courses set menu which 3 main dishes and aperitif included for 55 Euro ?!?)

We try to make our guests enjoy their evening by having some times and some nice chats. And this reason we are different than many "warm and cheaper" tourist style fast eateries.
What we are and what we offer but sometimes we can't because we are all different. Many different tastes and many different choices.

We listen to all your feedback and try our utmost to learn from it and improve where necessary.

Choose what suits you best for next time you visit Antwerpen.

Warm regards.
Sombat

Let me start off by saying the food was fantastic. A good combination of different types of foods and a great balance of spices. Going into the experience, I wasn't certain what to expect. I read several of the reviews, but what I didn't realize was how the meal was set up. It is a 6 course menu-less meal. When you sit down, the meal has already begun. The meal took three hours; we did not expect this. I was falling asleep as the main course was arriving.

Again, the food was very nice, but I wasn't prepared for such an experience. I would have like to require less time and possibly pick what I was going to eat. One of my colleagues is a vegetarian and we were not asked about any allergies or dietary concerns. Even after being informed that he was a vegetarian, they continued to bring him fish.

A continuous feast of beautifully balanced and crafted delights. From the amuses bouches at the beginning to the slowly cooked beef curry, sticky rice, chicken salad and pad-Thai served as main, we savoured and loved every mouthful.
They made special efforts to cater for my slight spice-o-phobia and allowed Fred extra chilli to compensate.
You really must find time to eat here.
On my list for a return visit to share with family and friends.
Intimate dining in warm surroundings with attentive and unobtrusive friendly, kind service.
Wow.

Came here with colleagues whilst staying at nearby Crowne Plaza Hotel for exhibition. What a find !! This is an outstanding restaurant offering a unique experience.
The dining area is calm and relaxing, and the Maitre D/owner is very welcoming.
It was clear that this was going to be different. We were told that we'd have six courses, each different to the last. A mixture of meat dishes, salad and seafood with a lively dessert to finish. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I'm not an expert on Thai food, but this was the best Thai meal I've ever eaten - and I think it'll be a long time before I have such good Thai food again.
