“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

Recently opened museum in the docks area about emigrants who travelled on the Red Star Line ships. Don't be put off by the promotional literature. Also has great rooftop (well funnel top actually) views and a very nice and reasonably price restaurant in fabulous setting in a massive hall. We spent 2.5 hours there excluding eating.

“Just amazing!”
Reviewed May 8, 2014 via mobile

This is what happened prior to arriving at Ellis Island. Tough stories. Well told. Many videos. Much English. On two levels. Lockers, restrooms, cafe, shop. Very near MAS

“Interesting although layout was sometimes confusing”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

Never realised that the Port of Antwerp played such an important role in the migration of people from all over Europe to the Americas. Museum was very informative, although at times I missed the 'thread' because I was unable to follow a logical route, so felt I jumped about a little.

“Very moving museum”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

A really interesting history of emigration, including the details of the process. Some very moving individual stories are highlighted. It's also interesting to see what the ships themselves were like. You can look up individual names of family members if you're so inclined, although we didn't. It's a very emotional experience to be there. You really feel the fear and the hopefulness of what people must have been thinking. I was very moved.

“Interesting, sad and touching”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

This museum, quite interactive and with modern displays, audio and videos, brings you the history of the Red Star Line. Big ocean liners bringing, mainly poor, people to the lands of a thousand opportunities: the U.S.A. and Canada. Very good and well stocked souvenir shop. The Red Star Line museum is built on an island: "het Eilandje". Take the opportunity to have a walk around in the surrounding streets, where docking and dockworkers history was made. Or better still: go to the museum during the morning, have lunch in one of the many good restaurants on het Eilandje, and take the 2 1/2 hour harbour-trip with a Flandria passengervessel between 14 and 17 hours...
