Owner description: Twice a year MoMu presents a new exposition: based on the MoMu collection (25,000 pieces), and completed with loaned works, these expositions might tell a designer's story or focus on a fashion related theme. You won't find a permanent display here, but rather a varied programme that focuses on the differente dimensions of the world of fashion.

It's just like going to a high-end designer showroom... lots of open space but only a few select pieces to look at. They insist you go down to the basement to stash all coats, bags, etc. before you are permitted to head upstairs to the exhibit. Overall, you could get through the entire museum in about 30 minutes. Sure, some of the vintage clothing and the couture is great to look at, but there's just not a whole lot of it to look over. I would have expected maybe a permanent collection devoted to showing many of the works of Belgian designers - specifically the local ones, like Dries Van Noten and other members of the Antwerp 6, but again, the displays are very limited. Still, the place is an interesting diversion if you have had your fill of Rubens and paintings and you want to see art of a different kind...

While I was walking in the city with my girlfriend we saw the Momu's building. It was a really big surprise, the exhibition very impressive and absolute unique. Oh, and if you're under 26, the ticket is only 1euro :)

An interesting visit but limited to just one exhibition at a time - on our visit this was the Abraham fabric company. Fascinating to see the many layers of stencils used to create custom fabrics but would have been much better if there had been some interactive exhibits too - felt very much like you can look but not touch. As a bonus, this year's fashion students exhibited their design challenge pieces which was actually mind-blowing to see what they could achieve with fabric.

The exhibition was very good, a good number of items well displayed as well as photographs and sketches. As we were there on the weekend the book shop was closed but we were able to buy the exhibition book at the ticket desk.

No bags whatsoever are allowed in the museum and we had to leave our handbags in simple, unsupervised lockers in the basement which didn't necessarily feel safe (that part of the building doesn't even require a ticket to the exhibition),

The mode museum offers a permanent collection and has different theme related exhibitions. It also offers a programme for children. It is very centrally located, near Groenplaats.
