We used our Groupon voucher to eat mussels "as much as you can".
Booking the table, in the first place, was a real downer: I had to e-mail them twice and still no response. Then I called them 4 times, the first time I was treated very arrogantly, the next two times the ladies on the phone could'nt help me as they said they couldn't take reservations by phone and finally, on a Sunday morning at 11.30, I got the owner who said that, altough no table was free for that evening, we could come in later that evening.
We were given a nice table and were looking forward to our meal. However, to our surpise, we were not offered the possibilty to specify our preference of how the mussels would have to be cooked, but merely they were served as such. The first serving was OK: tasty and with a lot of veggies.
When we then asked for a small supplement (" eat as much as you can") we were given two pots for the for the 4 of us. This serving was totally tasteless: the mussels were overcooked and without any vegetables. Also no sauce was provided. Additional fries were billed.
All in all, we had a good time with the friends, but the meal itself was well below expectations. My advice: there are plenty of other mussel restaurants in Antwerp where you can eat as least as good as Chez Rini and where you will be treated as a customer.

“Nevertheless the fine seafood, we left with a bad feeling.”
Reviewed December 13, 2011

We went for lunch with a Groupon voucher. This voucher was valid for an aperitif (cava), a starter, (soup of mussels) and mussels as main course.
While entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the smells of fine food. And the restaurant was quite crowded with elder people, who are most knowledgeable about quality. But only one waitress for about 20 people.
So we had to wait. 30 minutes. With a glass of cava and fresh crispy bread, and the fine and promising smells of the kitchen, that was not the main problem. Then the waitress came with the main course.
We said that she had skipped the starter. She was sorry about that, and promised to compensate that afterwards. We agreed, because we did not like to wait 30 minutes again, certainly not with all these appetizing smells. So we savored the excellent mussels, with excellent French fries.
After the main course, we waited for the compensation. Which never came. And, most unfortunately, we got the firm impression that this was on purpose. While leaving the restaurant, we made the waitress aware of her oblivion. She said sorry again, and said that she had the intention to offer us a dessert. But she forgot…Finally she dropped the bill for our additional bottle of water…Poor compensation.
Sure, to err is human. Sure, she was in charge, on her own, of serving about 20 people.
However, lots of people complain about the attitude of hotels and restaurants towards customers with “prepaid vouchers”. Maybe those complaints are justified. Voucher-customers have less opportunity to complain, because the money is cashed, and the voucher is worthless elsewhere. But then, when you are not able to service these vouchers-customers as they deserve, why then subscribe to the system?

So, chez Rini, fine food, but probably not yet the right customer-oriented attitude. Not towards voucher-customers anyway.
