This church is absolutely packed with wonderful pieces of art. Try to book a privat guide, he will keep you in aw for hours! The church partially burned down some tens of years ago, also the stories around that are interesting!

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

This church was not on my list to visit, but when I was walking around I saw this church and entered. The guide was very friendly and call this church a "Rubens church" without any Rubens work in. Big Rubens drawings were taken to Vienna and those used to decorated the ceiling were destroyed in a fire. But as a baroque church, It's sculptures are also designed by Rubens, so it is still worth seeing. The pulpit is a masterpiece by the way.

“A pilgrimage church!”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

St. Jacob's Church is not one of the most beautiful in Antwerp (a city of beautiful churches) but it's worth a visit. One of the pilgrimage churches en route to Santiago de Compostelo with a scallop shell on the pavement there, and also evidence of Peter Paul Rubens ... he's buried there.

“Must visit when you go to Antwerp”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

An interesting church, been to Antwerp several times but this was my first time visiting this church

This church is huge and the color of the interior is all black and white (the traditional color of the habit of the dominican orders that built this church),the church is huge and there are many interesting paintings, scupltures, statues and relics all around this church

There is an interesting museum as well, where they put the chalice, monstrance, old mass vestments

Before entering the church, don't forget to look at the courtyard on the right hand side,it is a good photo spot
