“Pure delight!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

We have visited many museums and art galleries in our life but this was one of the best. Not expensive and with one of the best written guides included with the entrance fee. Lovely gardens, although we were there in November, interesting building, interesting furnishings and many fine paintings by Rubens and his contemporaries. A gem in the middle of a great city. Highly recommended.

This is an absolute must-see. The artwork and the house are wonderful insight into the artist and his importance during his lifetime.

“What a fabulous place!”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Rubens House was a fabulous experience! It is as if you are stepping back in time. They have done a wonderful job of keeping the house authentic! The courtyard & gardens are stunning. Inside there are of course many of Rubens artwork to admire, but there is much more! The architecture of the house & the furnishing are beautiful. I especially loved the gilded leather walls and don't believe I will ever see a wall coving quite like it again. There is a sweet spirit about Rubens house I cannot explain so you must go visit yourself!

“Rubens House”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Knew very little about Rubens - even though I use Rubenesque to describe my curves! - but found out lots on the very informative audio tour which guides you effortlessly around his house. Lots has changed since he lived there, and this is pointed out, they are not trying to pretend that all is original. But you get plenty of information about his life and times, his art and his patrons. If you want lots more detail on certain items, you can get that too. Delightful garden at the back - a good place to sit and contemplate.

“Informative audioguide tour and great setting”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

The audio tour was great, interesting even for our seven year old! Do not expect to see many of Rubens' paintings, but learn about his life, pupils and workshop.
If you are lucky to be in Antwerp on the last Wednesday of the month, many museums including Rubens House are free.
