“Beautiful House and Interesting Museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

Like stepping back in time when you visit this museum. There are many displays of art and early printing mechanisms that were used by this pioneer of early books. Sit and watch the video near the beginning of the tour as it will help you understand what is going on. Mostly in Dutch, if I had to do it again I would have taken the audio guide. Very cool that you get to see a Gutenberg Bible - so very rare.

“Nice museum on the art of printing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

It a very noice museum on the art and history of printing. It is in old palace that was owned by a rich and important printing business man. The palace itself would be worth a visit. There are lots of printing machines and many old books and illustrations on how books were made. It exhibit one of the first Gutemberg bibles and some of the first scientific books printed using copper plates.

You should follow the DVD for the part that explain the printing process and then visit the rest by yourself.

“Amazing”

An amazing piece of history tucked away in Antwerp. They even have a 36 line Gutenburg Bible. You can easily spend a few hours walking around absorbing all of the history. A hidden gem!

“Outstanding Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014

Do not miss this outstanding museum (with deservedly UNESCO status). The town house alone, with its beautifully furnished rooms, is full of interest but the history of 3 centuries of printing which took place here cannot fail to impress anyone even remotely concerned about the way we got our printed word. What to pick out? The printing presses, type room, office, libraries, displays of priceless books including 36 and 42 line Bibles, 17c medical and botany books and maps...and so much more. You cannot fail to be impressed. There are tour groups who whizz round in 30 mins or less. We were told it would take 90 mins on average. We spent 2 hrs at the museum and still had not seen enough. The guide book at 8 euros is well worth it and you can catch up on lost more information after your visit. Go and enjoy!

“Really interesting printing museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014

The setting itself is worth visiting the museum for. It's a magnificent old building with incredible antique tile and stunning collection of paintings. The printing history is surprisingly interesting. I went because another member of my party wanted to see it, but I ended up really finding it a worthwhile morning.
