There is a good video near the start of the tour that does a good job of explaining the history of the building, and how the printing presses worked. Unfortunately, it was in Dutch so we didn't understand much of it.

This is a very interesting museum to visit, with a fascinating history of bookbinding. The leather wallcovering is worth looking at,and there are a few interesting paintings as well. Combine with a visit to the Vrijdagmarkt on a Friday morning.

Small specialist museum which we thoroughly liked - helpful staff and really lots to see - if you like something unusual this is it

Never mind the printing history which was fascinating, the decor and objects were well presented and it's courtyard was peaceful and pretty. An absolute must in Antwerp.

We were really looking forward to seeing this museum but we were so utterly disappointed. First, the printing side - almost nothing is in English and there were no audio guides of any kind available. In fact, the ticket lady was so busy with her computer it took a few minutes for her to be willing to sell us a ticket. No paper guides, audio guides, or information of any kind was available or offered. Most of the displays have a couple of words with the title of the item but the English translation is at the bottom and was usually shoved underneath the lip of the display case so you couldn't read it. This essentially was one room after another of books and very little on the actual printing process itself. The building had some interesting leather wall paper but was otherwise very unremarkable. I wish we could have that hour back to go to another museum in Antwerp that we missed....
