Owner description: Leopold II had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905.

The building is completely renovated and is one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world and right in the centre of Antwerp City.. If you walk on the big boulevard in front of the station, all the way till the end, you'll end up in the old part of the town...The metro station is below and the zoo is right beside the station, just go out and turn left..Starbucks is on the corner

Trains arrive in a beautiful riveted steel structure covered in glass en stop in front of a stone domed cathedral like hall. It is light and airy and as the whole station is accessible you can see everything from all angles. Next to it is the jewish area with jewel and gold shops.

Definitely worth a visit and an excellent restauration job. Combination of contemporary and old architecture. I transit there every day on my way to&from work for the past 30 years. Only thing missing is a decent pub: the (only) one on level +1 (right corner when you are facing the 6 departure tracks) is a complete miscast. It is situated in the former 1st Class Waiting Room and though the walls and the ceiling still reflect the earlier "grandeur", the bar itself and the seating area (and sometimes the staff) give me a depressing feeling everytime I enter. Don't let this scare you !!

is rumored to be on the top 3 of train stations in Europe to visit as it brings back the atmosphere of those times when traintravel was to be an adventure and not a torture as it became now ! Used to be dirty and gray , became beautiful airy and gilded , sparkling . BEWARE of PICK POCKETS in and around the building as they prey on tourists looking up and making pictures , not minding their pockets and bags . Walk up the Meir in the direction of the Schelde to go to the old part on town ... enjoy

Well worth a visit to see the inside. The waffle guy sells great waffles - the cold ones with chokolate are the best.
