We stayed two nights here on an incredibly hot weekend in August this year, and were thankful of a cool and peaceful refuge from the heat. We had the Cathedral Suite - a lovely spacious area with a big sitting room, and separate large bedroom and bathroom. Air conditioning n the room was a blessing. Stylishly and comfortably furnished with free wifi in the room - a must these days - too many hotels charge for internet access. Breakfast was very good and can be taken in the dining room or out on a very nice shady internal terrace - very peaceful and quiet. The hotel has a large underground car park with good flat access into it. The location is ideal - two to three minutes walk from the Cathedral and Grote Market - both of which are lovely to wander around. Staff were very friendly and helpful, without being in the way, and spoke perfect English, which is helpful if your Flemish isn't up to much! If we visit Antwerp again we won't hesitate to book in.

Our family of four stayed in the Cathedral Suite, which is a huge room on the top floor. The single trundle beds they put in for the children weren't wildly comfortable but good enough for one night (I don't know if they have family rooms with 'real' beds). Our king bed was very comfortable. Decor was attractive with high, beamed ceilings. The bathroom was spacious and clean, with a separate toilet at the end of the corridor. It was very warm but there is an AC unit which quickly cooled the room to a comfortable temperature. We had a car and were grateful for the relatively cheap on-site parking right next door. Free wifi was a big plus as well. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable range of choices and a machine that made a decent cappuccino. The staff on the front desk were very friendly. Location was excellent, a very short walk to the Grand Place and the bustling side streets full of restaurants and cafes. The only drawbacks I would note are that the bathroom had a whirlpool tub but no shower, just a handheld shower attachment; and there weren't many toiletries. Staff in the breakfast room were sort of surly - they didn't speak to anyone at all, just cleared plates away. The TV had limited channels (we were hoping to watch the Olympics on BBC as we had done in other hotels on our trip, but they didn't have BBC). This was our first visit to Antwerpen and we felt that we had made a good choice with this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms 401 and 402 are on the top floor and are very spacious. I didn't see any rooms on the oth...

This is more of a boutique B&B than a hotel but it's done well. Characterful building in a central location and we had a nice, reasonably large room (301) with nice decor. But not much space for clothes - other than a wardrobe. Small bathroom with a dodgy shower (over bath). Toiletries were on the stingy side and the soap must have been the smallest ever manufactured! Breakfast was pretty good and help yourself. Nice small courtyard garden for breakfast or evening drink. Garage facilities for car parking was helpful ( extra charge). Good bistro restaurant right next door where we ate on two consecutive days for lunch

Located within an easy walk to the Grand Place, the Hotel ‘t Sandt is located on a quiet street near the river Scheldt. It is an older hotel, but the rooms are spacious and clean. The floors creak, but the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are relatively modern and quite functional with a tub/shower combination. The front desk staff is extremely helpful. When we arrived at the trains station we went to the Tourist Information for a map to the hotel. The gentleman manning the desk volunteered that the ‘t Sandt was one of the best hotels in town. As a bonus, there is a Laundromat a block and a half away.

I booked this hotel for three nights during a visit by an Aussie friend, mainly because it is an historic building. It is well located in the old city centre and close to some excellent restaurants (including the Kleine Zavel just across the road).

All the rooms are called suites, though the Taj Mahal junior suite is really just a very large and well-furnished room with state-of-the-art bathroom (you need a degree in engineering to figure out all the various shower heads).

The tv was less than state-of-the-art -- it was a modern set, but not digitally connected, so could not pick up BBC (the management say this will be sorted by the end of summer). There is free wi-fi in all the rooms, however -- a plus point

The hearty buffet breakfast is also included in the rate (we paid 120 euro a night for a room that is usually 170 euro at weekends, a special 'summer' rate for what is essentially a business hotel)

The staff are friendly and know the city well, so you get good advice if needed. Evidently, the building was once a customs house and then a banana warehouse when the old port of Antwerp was on it's doorstep (the hotel is one block back from the River Schelde)

The hotel has got a very central city location, not directly in the oldest part of town but central enough to reach all interested site within walking distance.

Many of the hotel rooms have a gallery which you access via a spiral staircase. That gives it a quite unique feel.

The hotel is clean, efficient. The mix of styles is not really ideal which is a pity since the hotel is located in an old building. One could have certainly done a better job.

Staff was friendly, everything feels very laid back, quite unpretentious.

Room rates were rather on the upper end and doe not full reflect the value what you get.

But still, all in all, a centrally located property which is a good buy for a weekend visitor.
