When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly and cheerful woman on the front desk. Only have good things to say about the hotel - clean and well equipped room, comfy bed and great buffet breakfast, Cheap veggie indian restaurants nearby too.

The Astoria is within easy walking distance of the central station, and a walk into the old town is also very manageable. The price is very reasonable, and the breakfast is just fine, which are other reasons I choose it when I'm in Antwerp. This time, however, we were plagued by mosquitoes which had somehow got into the air conditioning system. My wife suffered more than I did, but just listening to the little beasts gets me annoyed. The desk clerk gave us something to plug into the electricity receptacle, but it proved inadequate. Advice: don't visit this hotel in the mosquito season unless you have assurance that this problem has been fixed.

Dear guest,
Thank you for writing this review. I’m happy we could reach you by e-mail and found out that the mosquito problem was almost a year ago in July. The mosquito machines and tablets are very efficient but as this inconvenience was reported just now it’s impossible to retrieve where we made a mistake. Maybe the receptionist gave you only 1 tablet instead of 1 for each day? Who knows! Thanks again for your feedback and hopefully we can welcome you again some day. Best regards, France De Zutter

Because it is but a stones throw from the Antwerp Diamond district, this small
efficient hotel offers great value for price.
Very nice friendly staff, clean comfy rooms. Also very quiet (before 9am).
Nice breakfast room.
Not many restaurants close by, but a couple blocks away is too far to walk.
Book on line for best deals. Stayed at half a dozen hotels in the area, best value
but no bar and fairly spartan lobby area. Overall....NICE.

Room Tip: A bit quieter in the back facing rooms

Very nice hotel about 3 blocks from the train station. Go to the information area in the station, they will give you a map and point you in the correct direction. Basically walk out of station, across street and follow street one block. Turn Left at 1st corner, walk 2 blocks and make 1st right. Less than 10 min. walk. Staff was very helpful, I had a quiet room on the 3rd floor back of building. Faces other apartments or something non-descriptive. Good TV with mostly English channels. They sell Beer (2.4 Euro) and other basics in the lobby all hours. The breakfast was included for $110, very good value. Nice, clean bathroom. Plenty towels and hot water.

Breakfast: Multiple hot beverages (coffee, coffee+cream, chocolate, choc+coffee, etc.), multiple juices, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, breads, cereal, cheeses. Plenty to eat buffet style. The manager comes around at breakfast and asks how everything is and what they can do to make it better. Very nice.

I stayed 2 nights and no complaints at all.

Room Tip: I was on the back side, 3 rd floor and no noise issues. No view to worry about so go for quiet.

This hotel is easy to find, close to the wonderful central station, and to the main shopping street. The room was very spacious, clean, but it did need a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Sleep quality very good, but you could hear the traffic outside. Buffet breakfast was good, plenty of choice, and included in the price. We would stay here again.

In February we stayed four nights in a fourth floor room at the front of the hotel, our room was clean and comfortable and as the hotel is on a side street there was very little traffic noise.

Breakfast is buffet-style and is taken in a large room on the ground floor. There is a great variety of food and drink available and there are plenty of tables so that the room never feels crowded.

The staff on the front desk at the hotel were all extremely knowledgeable and very helpful with directions and restaurant suggestions.

The walk from the station only took a few minutes, in fact this hotel is very well located in a town that's good for exploring on foot. The Opera House is only about ten minutes away and the Rubens House about fifteen minutes.

We enjoyed our stay at The Astoria and will happily stay here again when we return to Antwerp.

I chose this hotel for a city break as it was within walking distance of the railway station. The immediate area is not attractive & the hotel is functional but the rooms are comfortable & have everything you might need for a short stay. The staff were friendly & helpful.
The breakfasts which were included in the room price were very much better than I expected for the money. Considering the numbers catered for, there were always free, clean tables & a wide selection of fresh, appetising food.
Overall, it was very good value for a city centre hotel. I'd booked through Eurostar & my husband was amazed when I told him how little we were paying per night.

Room Tip: We were recommended to take a room at the back for quietness.
