“We loved it”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We really liked this B&B. The woman who showed us in when we arrived was very friendly. The room was a bit chilly but we turned the heat on (and left it on) and it was fine. The room itself was really nice and we had a view of a small square and a nearby church. The location is amazing -- very quiet area, only about two minutes from city centre. The breakfast was very good (typical continental) and the dining area was very nicely decorated. We really enjoyed it!

Only complaint -- the bed was a bit uncomfortable, but okay for two nights. Also the bathroom didn't really have a door, just a kind of hallway. Again, fine for two nights.

Room Tip: We had Room #2, and it had a nice view, big windows and nice decor.

What a nice experience in the middle of old Antwerp! After getting our keys from a very kind lady at the reception of a nearby hotel we climbed the ( very steep ! ) steps to the highest room.
Very spacious with beautiful views over Veemarkt Square towards the baroque Sint Pauls church, dating back to the 16-th century. All main attractions are in walking distance and the position of the building is in a low traffic area. So ( night ) rest assured. Highly recommended.

A very good B & B. Great location. Clean and welcoming.
I arrived early but this was not a problem, shown into room at 1100h. Room No 2 was spacious with a very good shower. WIFI was not always the best. good communal area downstairs, help yourself to tea/coffee. Big windows overlooking a nice square, noisy at night but quiet in the morning. Room was a bit hot and would benefit from air-con. Stairs would be a problem for small children or older people. Good breakfast in hotel behind B & B.

Stayed in the Antigone Guest House which is located just behind the hotel ! The hotel is in a great location, close to the Cathedral, shops, restaurants and bars that are all located around the Grote Markt. Easy to find too if you are driving as it is located adjacent to the River Schelde.
The guest house is pretty much self sufficient with tea / coffee etc available and a communal lounge / dining area where you can enjoy a quiet drink or a bite to eat !
I took breakfast in the hotel each morning, staff are very friendly and helpful, all in all a good place to stay!

I'm not really a B&B type of guy, but this place was just great! It was perfectly situated near the city center and the Schelde River at a cozy little square called De Veemarkt.

Our room was on the ground floor. Biggest drawback was that we had absolutely no view. Other rooms have a view of the square. So if you are big on views be sure to you don't get the ground floor room. The room in itself was good. The bathroom was equipped with a nice rain shower and spacious enough. Drawback was that the bathroom was separated form the bedroom with only a small wall and it had no door, so in effect bathroom and bedroom were in the same space. If you are staying for just a few nights this shouldn't be a problem.

What made this place special for me was the ground floor living/kitchen area. It has a very cozy and homey feel to it. It was the ideal place to have your breakfast or just to chill when coming back from your shopping spree in the city. Because we had the ground floor room this living area almost became a part of our room which was just great.
Breakfast is served in the nearby hotel (the hotel owners also run the B&B) when only a few rooms are booked) or otherwise in the ground floor living/kitchen area.
The breakfast buffet was quit elaborate for a small B&B as this. Cheeses and cold cuts, eggs, homemade egg salad, several different kinds of bread, buns, and sweets. All in all it was a very pleasant start to the morning.

I visit Antwerp regularly, but I usually don't stay for several days. I did this time, so I experienced some good museums, heavenly food, great shopping and the historic city center. If you are visiting Antwerp for a short break as I did, and you don't want to end up in a shabby or an overpriced hotel, then I can certainly recommend this B&B, you won't regret it!

Room Tip: If you are big on views, ask for a room overlooking the square.

Loved the homely feel, spacious room, little fireplace and soft bed. Great breakfast and atmosphere. Can highly recommend. The manager, owner is eager to please and very involved to make your visit memorable.

Room Tip: Ask for room with the fireplace and great view.
