This is a refreshing change from many soulless business type of hotels. One walks through a gate and a secluded garden passing a chapel to the hotel entrance. It is set in an attractive historical building and does have some old-world charm.

While the bathroom was modern the furniture in our (spacious) room was slightly worn and the upholstery of the armchairs downright shabby.

On the bright side again, we found the reception and breakfast staff helpful and charming and breakfast good.

Another plus point: Right across the street is a very inviting patisserie and tea room with good chocolates, cakes and beverages.

I stayed here for one night only, and was glad of it. I had booked a 1 person room, but do not recommend this. The room was very small and basic. Although they say that the rooms are approximately 12m2, 4m2 of that is probably the bathroom leaving a room with just enough room to place a single bed and a small table. That is why i rated a 2 star for the rooms.

There are no amenities like coffee etc in the room. The rooms are however clean.

Breakfast is served in between 7 and 10 in the morning. A choice of cheese / hams, different types of bread and eggs made to order. So that is fine.

The location is very good, right in the center of Antwerp, but there is no parking so you have to find parking yourself.

The hotel is based in a old cloister, which gives it a great entrance and a nice look and feel. However, somehow it feels that there is much more they can do to the place

Room Tip: do not pick room 104.. very small 1p

Centrally located near to the heart of Antwerp. Do not expect anything special with regarrds to the quality of the hotel room. Basic, the essentials are there. Very quiet. Breakfast is served in in a surptisingly modern setting and has a good quality.

This hotel has something special. The atmosphere of an ancient convent, the very central location at walking distance of any part of the city, the nearby botanic garden, the friendly service, the fair prices, the perfect breakfast and many small restaurants just outside the hotel...
Unfortunatelly, the reception is closed at night, no parking is available in the hotel (public parking 5 minutes away), the vicinity of the Elizabeth hospital.

Room Tip: Some rooms are renovated, ask for it.

Being a true visitor of 't Elzenveld, I fully agree with other reviews, here on TA, that cherish the peacefulness and rest of this hotel (with conference facilities) in the very heart of town. You may reach Elzenveld either via Leopoldsstraat, coming along the city hospital, or via Lange Gasthuisstraat and Vleminckveld, where you'll pass the statue of the Flemish writer Elsschot. When entering, you'll pass Rik Poot's statue of the Flemish poet Maurice Gilliams's, featuring Gilliams's motto, "De onrust schenkt vleugels aan de verbeelding" (freely translated, "the restlessness renders wings to the imagination"). Let these words settle down in your mind when you're enjoying your peaceful stay at 't Elzenveld!

Room Tip: The rooms opposite the hospital may be noisy due to traffic serving the hospital, and lack mosquito...

I'd given the place a break for a couple of years, so I was pleased to find the atmosphere unchanged but the rooms sensitively modernised. Although I speak Dutch and French I couldn't understand why you couldn't get English tv channels - it's the norm in Belgium so it must be frustrating for others. Changing wifi codes each day is a pain. Breakfast very good and nice staff. Reception excellent - changed my friend's room (room 116 avoid - no wardrobe, hooks or shelves!) without argument. Not bargain cheap but nevertheless good value. If you don't like anonymous hotel chains, this is a great choice and perfect location.

Total surprise on this place! Located within a historic convent that has been converted into a hotel and conference center, the hotel is in a beautiful old building in a very quiet area, surrounded by courtyards. Despite that only 10-15 min walk to most places you'd want to go, including the main squares and a longish 15-min walk to the train station. We had an upper floor room with a sleeping loft which was cool but the stairway was a little scary. No A/C, but it was OK when we were there, maybe something consider in the summer.
