“Chinese Imperial Cuisine in Antwerp”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Liang's garden is one of my favorites in Antwerp. Especially for fine eastern dining. The entourage is very fine and, although unmistakingly Chinese, not loud. The wine cart is a delight, the dim sum tower (fried, steamed or both) is a must. Why not try the dim sum menu. I did it and initially I thought I would stay hungry, but after the last batch of 5 dim sum, I was well satisfied. Another delight, albeit not on the menu, is the filled, fried eggplant. Ask Kevin if it can be made for you: it's my wife's favorite.
The wine list ... what can I say. It's a walk in wonderland. Liang's proposes every month or so a wine-of-the-month: a well balanced wine, both in taste as in price. If you want to be experimental: try the Yarden Chardonnay, an israeli wine. The smokiest one I have tasted - I immediately ordered some for my cave.
And then, already present from the beginning, but finally there: the dessert trolley: the best from the best Antwerp pastrymakers: Del rey, Schoenaers, ...
I just love this place.

“Best Chinese restaurant in Antwerp”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The food and the atmosphere are perfect. Wines are expensive and the house wine is not always the best.

“Favourite chinese in Antwerp”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

Know the restaurant for a long time, have seen the ownership changing, still love this place.

Friendly welcome, as from a second visit it is easy to become a part of the family.

Some traditional bourgeois elements (decent napkins, winelist, ...) an obvious love for quality ingredients mixed in a Belgian interpretation of Chinese.
Given this mix I do find the prices reasonable.

Chop suey, spring rolls, shark fin soup, beef szechuan... all present.

But, if you are only looking for the real "orginal" cuisine you will probably be disappointed because of the international-belgian interpretation.

“Delicious Chinese food in Antwerp”
Reviewed March 22, 2012

We went for lunch at Liang’s Garden, with a groupon voucher, and we were extremely satisfied.
The restaurant is located in a fine neighborhood, and the interior is “Chinese” without kitsch. Very efficient, helpful and knowledgeable waiter and waitress.
The voucher-menu was exactly as announced: starter, main course, dessert and coffee. No shortcuts or lesser service, as often happens with prepaid vouchers.
The dim sum as a starter was very tasteful, and the fine smell and taste immediately reminded me of my stays in oriental countries, quite a couple of years ago. This means that ingredients and way of preparation is original Chinese, and not a too-much westernized variant.
As main course we got salmon in a sweet-sour sauce, with rice. Again, real oriental ingredients and preparation. Moreover, fresh fish. Delicious.
The dessert was not really Chinese, though. But what an alternative! Patisserie from Del Rey-Antwerp, probably the world’s finest sweet pastries en chocolate pralines producer .
The wine list is quite impressive, with also wine per glass is available.
Definitively, Liang’s Garden ‘vaut le detour’, and we will divert again.
