My husband and I visited the Museon museum to see the Wildlife Photography exhibit and were pleasantly surprised at the rest of the museum's content. It is targeted at a young audience with lots of hands-on exhibits, but it is also great for an adult - the room featuring stories of young people in WWII was exceptional as you rarely get to hear what the war was like from that perspective. I also enjoyed the excavation area - very well done.

The Museon costs ten euros for an adult visit, but if you are the holder of a Dutch museum card, then there is free entry. This museum is joined to the Gemeentemuseum, which cost another thirteen euros fifty cents to visit, but you can buy a combined ticket. Personally, I would not try to visit both on the same day as there would be too much to see, and kids would certainly run out of steam. What I liked about this museum is that it has a lot of changing exhibitions, so if you have a musuem card, you can pop in for a couple of hours and see a new display. There is a cafe there where you can buy reasonably priced sandwiches and drinks. However these are a little boring for the British palate!! During my visit we went to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, and another about Spanish MIgrants to the Netherlands from the sixties onwards. However, there were a lot of kids in the exhibition about the Romans madly pressing buttons as it seems it was very hands on. There were also a couple of exhibitions in the Gemeentemuseum which I wanted to see, but decided to come back another day so I was still fresh to see them! Good tram connections from the City Centre on the number 17 tram which stops in front. However, check that this still runs from Jan 6th 3013 as the number 17 tram is taking over the old number 10 tram route and some of it will be replaced by a number 17 bus which will not go into the city centre, but link in with the tram.

A museum special for children, but adults also like it. Several new exhibitions and it's always interactive. The regular exhibitions are about history, geografy, biologie etc. Also groups of children from schools in the city visit this museum.

The entrance fee was 10 euros for adults and 5.5 for young children. Apart from the permanent collection, there was a themed collection about the Roman empire on the ground floor (December 2012). It is a very nice experience for kids and they will learn a lot. The staff are nice and helpful too.

A very interesting museum for kids. A lot of activities organized for them especially during school holidays. Next door there is the interesting Gemeentemuseum.
