This small museum is very close to the Mauritshuis so its easy to combine. It is well stocked with a good collection of Dutch masters of landscape, still life and portraiture. Because its small it could also be combined with Museum Gallerij Willem V which is also nearby.

The museum is housed in one of the old big houses that were built around the hofvijver, the pond next to the parlaiment. It has three floors (that you can visit) and it shows paintings, decorations, delftware and furniture... you could see that they are trying to show what life was like in such houses, but then with some great paintings from known Masters such as Vermeer and Rembrandt.

It is a small museum, but as it is not crowded you can take your time to look at every little detail. Don't expect that they have hundreds of paintings, because that is not the case. There are approx 24 big paintings and then there are drawings from Rembrandt and as i said earlier some delftware (and silverware).

It is small but the staff is very helpful and it is not expensive, so for an hour you can look at ease and imagine living in one of these houses...

I was walking in the center of the Hague and i noticed a museum that i hadn't seen before, so i decided to give it a try, also because the entrance fee was only EUR 4,50.

It is housed in a big old mansion, opposite to parlaiment and the Mauritshuis. At the moment only part of the building is in use, so i imagine that they are still preparing the rooms, because now i could only access 8 rooms, filled with paintings, drawings, silver wear and furniture.

In their collection they have some rembrandt sketches, one of his paintings, some Jan Steen, a Vermeer and other Dutch Masters from the same period. It has some nice pottery/ China and furnite.... Part of the house is decorated to give you an idear of how the old collector (Bredius), must have lived and other rooms are just open for displaying the paintings..... It's not big, but what they have is nice and it is a nice addition to your visit of the hague, after you have visited the Mauritshuis!.

No Wheelchair acces.
