My room was everything you would expect of a business hotel in Europe - nothing overwhelmingly exciting, but clean, spacious and with good amenities. The hotel stood out for me because of the customer service, which was top rate.

Located at the World Forum Convention center it is ideal for conference attendees.

Rooms are ok, modens in style with a really good bed. But there was nothing in the mini-bar, You have to fill up that Yourself.

At a conference hotel, the lobby bar is often the meeting point. At this hotel there was a barman that only manned the bar 1/3 of the time! I noticed seve that left without getting their beverage and at one occation had to wait 15 minutes before I could settle my bill. All my colleagues noticed the same. In stead of beeing in the bar, the barman spent time to flirt with the receptions girls - talking in telephone and bringing bar meals from the kitchen (even though they delivered several times).
A colleague of mine told me they where 6 people in the bar, most have not ordered, and the barman just went a way for 10 minutes!

The reception staff and restaurant staff had a better approach to service. But a poor and expensive breakfast lead me to reccoment the breakfast in the nearby shopping street.

In summary, a standard issue business hotel in 'Den Haag'.

Stayed here for a week. Was an intense week's work, so spent fairly little time here, other than the essentials. The room was comfortable, but not the most attractive I've stayed in, despite being a none smoking room, there was the faint whiff of tobacco from a pre-smoking era, or I'd had a naughty guest in previously. I didn't eat in the hotel for dinner, but the breakfast was very good; buffet offering, but very comprehensive. The gym is also comprehensive and it's possible to get a very good cardiovascular and weights training workout; however, the equipment is a little dated. WiFi is available, but charged in room, was adequate in terms of speed and reliability (not the quickest). The toiletries are uninspiring; I would recommend you bring your own. The staff (whom, given the hours I was working, I had very little interaction with) we're very helpful and efficient.

Accommodating to business - yes
Gym - Good facilities, a little dated, not available 24h, possible to get a good cardiovascular and weights workout
Toiletries - available, but would bring your own
WiFi - available, charged, adequate.

Much what you would expect from a Novotel, a hotel chain which is usually very reliable. However a few observations. Room rate excluded breakfast for which they wanted to charge an eye watering 19 Euros (so I decided to go without). Bathroom was not as clean as you would want (I'll spare the details) and the bedding felt cheap (rough sheets and pillow). Location is rather 'middle of nowhere' but we were directed to an area about a 10 minute walk away where you get can a drink/meal if you wanted to sample a non-hotel evening (bar called Old Jazz to be recommended).

Ridiculously hot in the room. It turned out that there are pipes running under the floor in all rooms ending in 02. It was a cold day, we had the heating off, the window open and still it was unbearable. We told the receptionist and she apologized and acknowledged the problem... and that was it. No refund, nothing.

Apart from the temperature the hotel is mediocre at best.

I stayed there for a week on a business trip and Novotel was indeed a very good hotel. The location is excellent and public transport in the area is very efficient. The rooms are spacious and very clean while the staff are friendly and helpful.

We chose this hotel over the Hilton mainly because it boasts on its internet site about how family friendly it is, including:
" Safe play areas;
Special welcome and personalized gift;
A balanced children's menu; and
Babysitting on request (paying)".
We were disappointed! The rooms were nice enough. We had connecting twin rooms and they had nice bathrooms and minibars that you can put your own snacks and drinks into. Having looked again at the website I see we were supposed to get a personalised gift! We didn't. I didn't notice a particularly special welcome....The "safe play area" was an alcove off the reception area with some wooden bricks and a couple of books. Our toddler was entertained for two minutes and our six year old not at all. There were no children's meals that I could see on the menu. I didn't pursue it with the staff because the restaurant was deserted at the kids' normal meal times and we didn't fancy eating there any way. Perhaps a children's menu is available, but it wans't obvious.
My main issue was the advertised babysitting. We were keen to go out for an adults only dinner and this was an important deciding factor in our hotel choice. When we asked at reception they told us that they don't provide this service at all. In fact, they looked at us as if we were crazy and said that they were not trained to look after children! Well, that told me.

Dear Johanna,

Thank you very much for your extensive feedback on your stay. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced and be sure that your comments have been dicussed with the management team.
I would like to express my sincere apologies, You should have been given some gifts when checking in, if you would be able to send us your details I'll make sure those gifts will be send to you as soon as possible.
Regarding the play area, especially the X-box is very popular among the older kids and we try to stimulate the kids creativity with the Kapla building blocks. I am sorry this was not to their liking.
Like every Novotel we also service a kids menu which is available upon request.
The babysitting service is a company which provides highly skilled and certified babysitters. This service is hardly requested. Unfortunately that's the reason the front desk representative wasn't aware of this service. We have informed all our employees again about the service.

Please contact me personally (h5389@accor.com) when visiting our hotel again.
Kindest regards,

Krijn Taat
