My wife and I visited this hotel with my two kids (15 and 13 years old) and loved the feel of the hotel and found the rooms very comfortable. We ended up renting two rooms but it turned out that we were able to get this cheaper than the one room with two double beds rate that we paid in Amsterdam. We rented bicycles directly from the hotel for a day trip down to Delft and Rotterdam - it was very convenient, although one of the bikes was in pretty rough condition.

The hotel is very close to many restaurants and they provided a map with a nice walking tour that we were able to take. The service at the front desk was mixed. The person that worked in the morning/afternoon provided great service, but the one working later in the afternoon/evening was not as helpful, often telling us to go to the internet to look up things like restaurants in the area. Overall, this was a minor critique as our family thought this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our holiday.

The hotel is in a lovely spot near to the centre and trams. A traditional hotel with a chic understated restaurant that had good food. Staff were friendly and professional - all of them and that was a pleasure. Our stay was really enjoyable. Walks along the canal were lovely it was only 5 minutes away and led to chic cafes, bars and shops.
Breakfast good with great ingredients and chocolate brownies ! A welcoming vibe in the Rubens bar was appreciated.
Our room was a new signature boutique one a clever upgraded basic room made fresher with smart fittings. It was quiet as requested but had limited natural light see tips below.

Room Tip: Room 110 was at the front of the hotel with natural light and in the boutique style and room 111 was...

Dear Guest,
Thank you ever so much for your kind review. Our bar manager and Chef were really pleased with your comments about the welcoming vibe in our bar and the food in our Restaurant. It's a pleasure to read that you have enjoyed your stay in one of our brand new Signature Rooms. We have made a note of your preference for a room with a bit more natural daylight in our reservations system and will certainly take this into account for your next visit! Me and my husband stayed there 6 nights, the first 5 without balcony (superiour room, Queen bed) and the last with balcony. When I arrived there was a hair in the bath tub, apart from that the room was spottlessly clean. One of the days the cleaner asked if they could come in, I said to give it a half hour and then they just left and didn't bother cleaning our room at all that day. An other day they forgot to fill up the cup with coffes and teas. However, the reception staff was friendly and helpful and sorted out most of our issues.
The bed was very comfortable double bed. The furniture was classic and everything was working and in good condition.
The issue was that our neighbours in the room next door was very noisy at night and you may not want to hear all the private things going on next door. I was certainly not happy! So the hotel is definitely not sound proof.
Luckily the last night we were a lot more happier (although it had two single beds pushed together), the room was neighbouring the road and the car park so no noisy neighbours. The espresso machine was a nice surprise and also a computer with printer and of course the balcony.
One odd thing was the toilets. In the first room the toilet seat was so close to the bath tub that they mounted the toilet roll on the bath tub. In the second room the toilet was in a separate room, while the hand basin was in an other.
The lobby area was luxurious looking.
The area was ok, lots of embassies and hotels and business buildings nearby, but no vending machines or grocery stores within 15 minutes walk. However, tram closeby and not very far from the center where plenty of restaurants were located.
We were here on honeymoon, but felt we would have liked the hotel better if we had been here on business as it seems to be more oriented towards business people (well, if they can control the soundlevels between rooms).

Room Tip: Choose a corner room with balcony, less chance for annoying neighbours!

Great hotel in a pleasant location, nice bar and very comfortable room although a little small. nice reception and the hotel has a friendly, classy feel about it. I would recommend booking the hotel car park in advance, on our stay the parking was full and we had to park some way away on a pay and display street.

I would use this hotel again

im in the hague often and have defaulted to other corporate-endorsed hotels. what a waste!

the carlton is in a nice area of relative calm and tranquility. greet-friendly staff. (restaurant looks nice but i never ate there - its walking distance of the city center :))

my room was furnished in the old-world style. which, unfortunately, has become masquerade in many parts of europe for shoddy fragile and just cheap furniture. not here. everything is solid. bedding is ultra comfortable.

the blue-white porcelain/ceramic bathroom is gorgeous. mega cheers here.

room even had a narrow balcony one can actually step out into. how pleasant is that?

On the face of it, pretty positive: comfortable room, all mod cons, reasonably friendly staff, nice breakfast (for NL). But a couple of things that made me not feel valued. I was the only guest a floor under renovation, with plastic sheeting and debris all over the landing - I HATE that. And loud music came on from loudspeakers on the terrace at 6am. And the staff were pretty unmoved by all of this. Like I said, I didn't feel VALUED.
