Description: De Bakkerswinkel (The Bakery) on the Torenstraat is located in The Hague's Hofkwartier (Court Quarter), within walking distance of the Peace Palace and Parliament offices. For those born and bred in The Hague: it is across the street from the ice cream parlour Florencia. In the Toren garage, designed by architect Jan Greve you can now enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or full high tea in a cosy, homely atmosphere. Naturally, you can also have a 'regular' cup of coffee, and a scone with lemon curd and fresh cream. It is open daily from 9 o'clock in the morning, including Sundays and Mondays!

“Quirky different, really good food”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

De Bakkerswinkel is situated within walking distance of the main shopping street. The food is fantastic andthe interior is a very cool twee/retro/camp its almost wrong. Enough space to bring pushchairs but there is a staircase to get into the main area.
Also good for take away cakes and bread.

“great cafe, nice food, service with 1930s decor”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

This cafe is easy to get to and not that far out of the centre. It's a very short walk from the Ibis hotel for anyone staying there. It has nice sandwiches, soups, cakes, nicely presented afternoon tea. You can get cafe latte made with normal milk or soya milk. The 1930s decor is unusual. You have the impression that you have come into someone's lounge. It's very relaxed.

“Enjoyable breakfast, great cafe”
Reviewed April 16, 2012

We enjoyed Easter breakfast at De Bakkerswinkel. The menu was in Dutch, but the waitress helped us translate the few items we couldn't figure out. We both enjoyed our meals, as well as the restaurant's decor and atmosphere.

“Yummiest breakfast in The Hague”
Reviewed October 1, 2011

Best breakfast in The Hague city centre, opens at 9am everyday with freshly baked bread and biological yumminess.
Skip breakfast in your hotel and experience the local atmosphere.

“Ecclectic surroundings, "home"made delacacies, sumptuous high tea!”
Reviewed August 16, 2011

Just a few blocks out of the city center, de Bakkerswinkel in The Hague offering a generous high tea with homemade scones, a variety of cakes and tarts. The interior is furnished with a medley of mid-century kunst & kitsch tables and chairs with contributing a nostalgic-recyclist charm. For the Baker's sweet High Tea prices start at Euro15,50 and the menus increase in price with different savory additions (quiches, soups, sandwiches,) to a maximum Euro 27,50. My teenage daughter treated me to this experience so for us it was both special & affordable. Excellent quality, friendly service, "gezellig" atmosphere - perfect for unwinding with friends or an intimate chicks-chat.
