Description: Calla's is named after the flower 'Calla', the Greek word for beautiful. With its serene loveliness and unassuming character, the Calla is the perfect emblem for the restaurant. The flower's serene beauty also inspired the interior design. Against a background of white, ivory and cream, only the carpeting is a shade of orange coral. Materials used include linen and organza, slate, wood, chrome and glass.FG Stijl of Amsterdam did the interior design. Calla's is housed in what used to be a 19th-century commercial building somewhat reminiscent of a coach- house. On the ground floor is the chef's table, that affords a good view of the kitchen. A long brown table surrounded by high chairs, it accommodates up to eight guests for full meals or alternatively simply an aperitif. On the first floor is the restaurant in which one wall is lined with mirrors. Contact with the ground floor is created by recesses in the large square balustrade surrounding the stairs. Here too, much attention has been paid to detail: the bottles of mineral water are kept in a specially designed plexiglass cooler containing crushed ice.The result is an unassuming, chic interior with white and organic colour accents.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed March 18, 2012

Would recommend it for a nice elegant dining experience.

Pros
- Tasty food - definitely some unique tasting experiences
- Chef accommodated allergies by coming up with some interesting & tasty variations
including a soup with cubes of melt in your mouth duck liver
- service was always smooth, but never rushed, and was attentive but never over attentive -- basically great service
- Nice modern decor
- Always seemed quiet even though all of the tables were full - nice peaceful dining.

Cons
- none

“Tasty. Tasty. Very, very tasty.”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

We went during the Restaurant Week in The Netherlands when you can get a 3-course meal (lunch or dinner) for 25 euros + 10 euros per Michelin star. So, in fairness, we were getting a bargain even with an (optional) extra course for another 7.50 euros. We also had an aperifitf (9 euros for G'n'T) and a wine arrangement (different glass of wine per course) for 24 euros each.
Food is very good with good attention and not an unnecessary melange of tastes which just seems too much. Interesting amuses, good flavours, good combinations and good service. Our lunch lasted two relaxing hours and we will do it again! Even at full prices!
PS It's worth checking out Restaurant Week (I thought it was usually September) as it's a chance to "sample" top restaurants and see if you really want to go back or whether new owners/chefs have made a difference (positive or negative!). Going to 3 this week that I haven't been to or haven't for a number of years.

Weird enough The Hague lacks good quality restaurants. Calla's is the exception. I's a real feast to dine here.
