Having read The Goldfinch we were determined to see the actual painting! The museum is an easy walk from Den Haag Centraal Station. It was easy to pay and also leave coats. The exhibition about the new build was fascinating but the highlight was to see so many stunning paintings! We were glad we arrived early as it became very busy later.

When you are in the city of The Hague the Mauritshuis is one of the nicer musea to visit with some realy impressive paintings.

Check it out on their website and enjoy.

Excellent collection of famous Dutch painters shown in a beautiful setting. Next to the Binnenhof the location is exceptional. Relatively small but of very high quality. The history of the building itself is interesting as well.

Though the museum hardly expanded its outstanding collection of 16th and 17th century Dutch Masters (like Vermeer, Rembrandt, Van Goyen etc.), it did expand its premises. It got a new, subterranean entrance and passway to a building across the street, which will house temporarily exhibitions. With these architectural improvements and renovations de Mauritshuis more then ever is a must see in The Hague.
