Owner description: The Louwman Museum is home to the world's oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the World. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell, its own contribution to history. The motor car is a mirror of culture. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building, designed by American architect Michael Graves, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complement the architecture of the building.

My husband called it a "pity" date but I'm not sure who had more fun! This car museum is housed in a stunning architecturally designed building built by the Louwman family specifically for the purpose of exhibiting the world's largest private collection of cars from the 1800's to the present. There is also a collection of sculptures and paintings depicting the automobile from every era. Other modes of transportation are also featured including century old bicycles and motorcycles. Exquisitely displayed exhibits are well organized and labeled with detailed analysis. The dining hall at the end of the tour is magnificent and would make a perfect venue for a private function.

A friend of mine who lives in the Netherlands and did the HVAC for this building took me here. I had never heard of it before I went but would reccomend it to anyone who will be spending time in The Haag. The cross section of cars on display is wonderful. You don't just get the flashy sports cars and American Muscle cars but a great representation of the world history of the automobile.

Live locally and have been twice with guests. Excellent museum is good explanations and enough to keep all ages happy. The recreated village on the ground floor is amazing. Can get busy on wet holiday days but the only real downer is the queue for tickets as the museum swallows people easily.

the building alone is worth a visit but the oldtimers are also truly awesome! Its like stepping back in time. Not just cars but also make-believe old shops and streets and collections of china and other car memorabylia. Good and easy parking underneath the building in their carpark.
