Owner description: The Louwman Museum is home to the world's oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the World. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell, its own contribution to history. The motor car is a mirror of culture. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building, designed by American architect Michael Graves, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complement the architecture of the building.

Great new purpose built facility with some of the world's most amazing cars exhibited. Not cheap to get in, but very tastefully presented.

“The history of cars”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

You don't need to be a car specialist or car fanatic to enjoy this incredible museum, which houses no less than 230 cars from all times, since the first one ever made. All cars are impeccably maintained, it is a pleasure to see them. From de "Dawn of motoring" to modern racing cars and luxury cars, there is for every taste and every curious spirit. Most interesting is to see models of electric and hybrid cars already made during the 1940s and 1950s. Enjoy the collection of bubble cars, as well as the Aston Martin from James Bond's "Goldfinger", and the red Cadillac Fleetwood 1976 that was owned by Elvis Presley, among many other cars with a special story. The building of the Louwman Automuseum is in itself a real treat.

I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the museum & look at cars spanning the last 100+ years. Excellent display & I would go back there again as the couple of hours I spent wasn't quite enough to appreciate it all.

“Incredible Collection of Automobiles”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

This is an amazing museum!!! Not only does the museum contain hundreds of vehicles in impeccable shape from just one mans private collection, but they are displayed in such a way that your walk through the museum tells the story of the development of the automobile from its early beginnings to the modern day. There are cars that were in famous movies (James Bond, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and cars that belonged to famous celebrities (Elvis Presley, Prince Bernhard).

At the end of the museum tour there is an area made to look like an outdoor street scape where you will find a restaurant and some shops. It is a lovely area to sit at a table in the indoor courtyard and enjoy some coffee or something to eat.

I would recommend this museum to anyone. Even if you are not a real automotive enthusiast you will able to appreciate this exhibit and if you are a car person, you will not be disappointed.

“Don't Miss This!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Over 230 immaculately restored vehicles are housed in a beautiful, purpose built museum. The presentation was superb, some with sound effects. Wheel chair friendly and plenty of space to walk at your own pace to admire the exhibits. Look out for the James Bond Aston Martin and the zany Swan Car. There was a Silver Arrow exhibition on when we visited. There is a casual restaurant and a shop with clothing, books and model cars. Take the number 90 bus from Den Haag Centraal, it's a ten minute ride to the museum. The Museum Card is not accepted here but don't let that put you off. You don't need to be a motoring enthusiast to enjoy this attraction, but if you are, you will be over the moon!
