“Perfect place for a summer's lunch”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

I enjoyed a wonderful late lunch here one Sunday afternoon with two friends sitting outside on the nice terrace. Everything on the menu looked good so it was difficult to choose but both the lamb's lettuce salad with goat's cheese and black lentils - and the salad of the day with tuna, smoked halibut and prawns - were excellent. All salads can be ordered as a starter or a main dish. The ingredients were simple, fresh and good quality. Service was friendly and efficient. I'm looking forward to trying dinner at Z&M sometime soon!

“A great dinner for a large group...”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

We had selected the Z&M restaurant for our laboratory's farewell dinner after 40 years of service. Well, Z&M was the perfect place for it. We were seated in the top floor, where we had full privacy with our 27-person group, and the top floor offers a nice view on the Maas river and Rotterdam's latest eye-catchers, i.e., the Erasmus Bridge and the skyscrapers on the "Kop van Zuid" (South Head). As with our previous occasion, the - biological - food was very tasty. Cuisine is basically (Southern) French, but with Italian inspiration. The wines have been carefully selected by the Baris family team, and they're original and very affordable.

“Elegant and surprising on a nice location.”
Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

This nice restaurant is located on an oasis in the dynamic centre of Rotterdam. On the shore of an old part of the port surrounded by classic buildings that survived the 1940 bombardments. The restaurant serves tasteful dishes of good quality. The lunch menu, complete with desert, was outstanding. The restaurant imports the wines themselves and they have a good variety on the menu. The staff is friendly and service was satisfactory. The restaurant can be reached by boat from the illustrious Hotel New York. It is on a walking distance from the main shopping district and various touristic sights. The terrace is highly recommended but naturally only when the sun shines. Sitting on it tempts you to lean back, enjoy and take your time. And you should.

“Relaxed atmosphere, great food in old part of central Rotterdam”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Our family of four had a wonderfully relaxed lunch by the old harbour full of historic boats by the river in the heart of Rotterdam. The food was superb, fresh Haddock and salad was washed down with a nice red wine. The menu is in Dutch only but that doesn't matter as the waiter was very fluent in English, as most Dutch people are, and willing to translate anything on the menu for us. A definite recommendation for lunch in Rotterdam.

“A hidden gem on the Maas river”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

Superficially, the restaurant looks like a vegetable shop, as they exhibit a choice of their vegetables at the entry. But you may order the vegetables in a cooked form as well, and a lot more than that. Inside, the restaurant has 2 floors - the ground floor for the day-to-day activities, the upper floor suitable for private parties. Cooking is Mediterranean style and very good; a limited but highly appropriate choice of wines is available; many of them are placed on cupboards and serve to add to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The service was impeccable!
