This restaurant is located in a former red light district of Rotterdam (hence the name: The sailor and his girl). This area now has a few new nice restaurants and stores and is connected with a walking bridge to the 'Kop van Zuid', with a metrostation.
If you come by car, parking is free, however it was not easy to find a spot close to the restaurant and the further out, the less safe the area feels.
De restaurant is small (50 seats) and very cosy, nicely decorated. The service is casual and nice and they provide bread with oil and tap water without charge. They have one fixed menu, you can decide on the number of courses (3-6). We took 4 courses and shared a cheese platter, wine and coffee. The food was all good, light, good portions and excellent quality for the price. You can opt for wine that goes with the food and they also serve half glasses.
We paid 60 EUR, including tip.
