This pop-up restaurant is only open when the weather is nice enough for it, as it is out in the open with no roof, right next to the Maas river. It's worth going the extra mile for this restaurant, located on one of the islands in the Maas. The ambiance is very relaxed and informal. We started with the fish cookies, and had fish and shrimp (from la plancha, of course) with sides of grilled veggies and tortilla with sweet potatoe. Their menu is based on what they get that day from the fish store. Everything is prepared on the plancha. Finished with a moist chocolate brownie. All of our dishes were very nice. Minor point: they're not allowed to serve tab water. Also, it was sometimes hard to get the attention of the staff. Go here with a relaxed attitude though and order your drinks early: having to wait in the sun with a bottle of wine is not a problem as we see it. Extra points for the original wine coolers! Oh, and as they only serve fish, don't go here if you don't like that, though you can just do drinks as well.

This restaurant is only open when the weather is good. Its located on the Noordereiland at the river between the two landmark bridges, which is a very nice location.
The restaurant is completely open (kitchen including) which links in to the weather requirement ;). Very cool concept.
The service is friendly, but gets overwhelmed from time to time due to the large amount of guests coming when the weather is good. Especially on a Friday when people come here to enjoy a drink after work in the sun.
They serve all kinds of seafood, which taste really fresh. We took the platter for two, which was lovely (worth the wait).
All in all good place to visit when the weather is good, be prepared for some wait for your food, just enjoy your drink, the view and the weather and you will not be disappointed.

It was a a Friday evening after work and my boyfriend and I didn't have anywhere to eat. We walked by this place and found a few empty seats and sat down and ordered the fish buffet. On a nice summer day, it's an excellent place to sit because it is outdoors, the music is nice, and everyone around is generally in a good mood. The food is nice and they are also very generous with their pitchers of ice tea. But the wait is long. It look like they had 3 waiters for the 100 people that were seated there. It was completely disorganised and you could see people arriving and leaving after a while because they were tired of the wait.

Great location, tasteful freshly grilled fish together with some nice starters and not to forget a nice glass of wine! Can you imagine having your diner on the water in one of world's biggest ports, but having the feeling taht you are at a small fish restaurant on a beach in soutern Spain? This is exactly the place!
So enjoy the food, the drinks and the views and get fully relaxed!

The idea of an outdoor pop-up restaurant has an exciting ring to it and A La Plancha mostly lives up to that promise.

The decoration is very simple, which is understandable since the decoration has to comply to 'pop-up standards', and it gets better as soon as it gets darker and the lights are turned on. Still, a few placemats and candles wouldn't hurt during the long light days of the summer.

The fish is fresh, and prepared perfectly! But as with the decoration, it lacks charm. When ordering the fish, you will get a plate with just that and you will need to order side dishes. The bread is great, but a quartered (?!) lettuce crop with some sauce, anchovies, and onion does not a salad make. The restaurant seems to work with good ingredients and they serve enjoyable food, but they could spruce it up a little.

Be adviced that it can get quite windy, since it's located on the river, but luckily there are plenty of blankets available. Service is okay, the people are young, cheerful (although sometimes rather present), and they try to let you have a nice dining experience.

I would definitely recommend a visit to A La Plancha, because the food tastes good, the view is stunning, and the Noordereiland area is lovely.
