“Good value and facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Stayed July 2012 for North Sea Jazz Festival. Location excellent, tram from Centraal stops right outside, and Leuvehaven metro station is 3 min walk. Reception, restaurant and bar staff all helpful, friendly and professional, and spoke good english. Once I worked out the 3-lifts system (ask which lift is nearest your room, then follow the red or blue dots on the floor - not all lifts access all rooms) the layout made sense! Room (335, a single) was fine, not beautiful but clean and functional with comfortable bed, ok bathroom with easily regulated shower, and TV with a couple of english channels (CNN, BBC1, BBC World). No kettle etc or safe, but lockers can be accessed at reception. Breakfast was a good buffet, in the typical Dutch style. WiFi and computer terminals available.

This is a perfect choice for those attending events at Ahoy with good transport links and all you need for an enjoyable stay at reasonable rates.

Room Tip: You might like a river view room, at a little more cost. Comfort rooms seem to face the city, Standa...

The hotel seems to be situated in the most beautiful, green and respectable area of Rotterdam, with great public transport connections. In fact, one day we just walked there from the central station, it takes about 25 minutes. The riverfront and Erasmus bridge just outside the hotel are simply awesome. The room was quite basic but clean and tidy, buffet breakfast really good with the exception of juices and croissants, and the staff really attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Right in Rotterdam excellent location, great pub right in the hotel, basic amenities, clean hotel, great for overnight business trip.
Use the rooms in the main hotel if you are looking for an upgrade
Breakfast superb spread and the people are more then happy to go out of their way serve you anything, they even made a hot chocolate for my daughter even though it was not in the breakfast.

Excellent location--the tram from Centraal Station stops outside the door, the Spido harbor tour is 100 meters away, the Waterbus stop is 30 meters away, museums and parks are within just a few blocks' walk.

But for a family of four, this was a bit bleak. Our quad room could fit 4 beds in, and a small desk, but nothing more. There were few electrical outlets, and half were awkwardly located about 4 inches above the pillows on two beds. The hotel brags about its view, but we could only see a wall just a short distance away. The room could get stuffy quite quickly. To the hotel's credit, things were scrupulously clean and well maintained.

If we had a harbor-side room, that would have helped us overlook the cramped space, etc. But we wouldn't stay there again.

Stayed at the Maritime Hotel for 4 days, and while it is old, the rooms are clean and meet the basic needs. It is ideally situated right on the riverfront and close to public transport. The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast buffet!

The staff both in the reception and the restaurant as well as the cleaners are very friendly and helpful.

Would definitely recommend at the price. Only point to note is: get a room with a view to the river instead of the backyard.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view to the river. Otherwise, the rooms are very dimly lit.

We booked to see a concert which was cancelled. I asked to cancel the hotel booking due to the circumstances and was even happy to pay an admin charge. I gave them loads of notice but they would not cancel the booking or refund any of the money paid.

This hotel is located on the harbourfront of Rotterdam, a short walk from the centre and in the middle of a historical maritime area, lots of lovely restaurants and bars around....
The rooms are simple, but very clean. The breakfast is surprisingly good. All fascilities are basic, but because this hotel started off as a hostel for seamen ( and part of is still is...) it has a very special atmosphere.
