stayed in one of the cheapest rooms. It was really lovely very spacious with couch and comfy chair as well as table and chair, but the view was not top noche, but hey what do you expect from a cheap room I thought it was really good value and the view was the only non 4 star thing.

The hotel is in a building of the last century and so the atmosphere really reminds one of the passengers' stations of the ports at the beginning of the century. Very much in contrast to the modern skyline around. Very sympatic staff and the contact was very kind. The rooms (mine was superior type) are very large and individually designed (Eames chair, cool ceiling lamps and modern art), furnishings are all inspired to passengers' baggage. Bed is absolutely fabulous and the rooms are very quiet. But, we miss a minibar. The restaurant is really great at a normal price: Oysters, tuna and fish soup... fantastic! Breakfast as buffet or a la carte. I really recommend this place when you want to have something outstanding, something really remarkable and special What you should concern is, that the hotel is positioned at the cruise terminal/ harbour a bit away from the center, but we loved to use the watertaxi. The barber shop for men in the basement is very special. In summer the terrace is a nice place, too.

Room Tip: Seaside rooms have a nice view.

Knowing the history of the place, it is a great experience to stay in this Hotel. The Service is good, the rooms are really beautiful with love to Details and comfortable. The breakfast is great with lots of choices.
I was there three times: Once for stay over, once for a café break and once for dinner.
I really recommend to go there for a dinner or a Café break. Stay over is quite expensive and if you want to explore the special atmosphere, this you can feel and touch already in the Restaurant area.

So Overall it is a fantastic concept and a super place, but value for Money is my question mark.

We stayed for 8 nights in this beautifully designed hotel at the waterfront. A unique place; once the headquarters of the Holland-America Line. From here, a 'bridge over the ocean' was built. Actually, between 1880 and 1925 almost one million people chose Rotterdam as their port of departure before sailing to their new homeland America. There are more pro’s and a few areas for improvement in this special place:

1. The rooms are all different, spacey, modern, stylish decorated and have a Nespresso coffee machine.
2.The beds are extremely comfortable with nice linen and many pillows.
3. View over the water from most of the rooms is special and relaxing.
4. Water taxi is located next to the hotel and a Metro station near by. Train station is however not close by and you need a normal taxi. It takes about 15-20 minutes walking to the city centre.
5. Staff is very professional and friendly.
6. Breakfast buffet is not included and consist of many different kinds of bread, pastry, cereals, fruit, meet/cheese, fresh orange juice, fresh eggs prepared at your request.
7. Food in the restaurant is always good. However it is so busy both in the afternoon and in the evening that this is not the place for a quite talk.

Areas for improvement
1. The complimentary Internet was extremely slow and weak (all over the hotel).
2. Prices are quite high. Imagine you pay a 5 star price for a room without breakfast and no other facilities (there is, for example, no gym or swimming pool).
3. Conference rooms are cosy but due to the lay out not always practical. Also the acoustic in the conference rooms was not optimal.
4. We got the impression that within the hotel the joint areas were not always clean. Cleaning in the rooms was however fine.

An absolute unique experience staying at this historic and chic refurbished hotel in the middle of the Maas river. Arrive in style by water taxi or park your car in the garage next door. The rooms are airy and stylish, giving you excepional beds ( and linen ) and lots of space. Characteristic bar and restaurant downstairs. Nice store, incl books. Can't think of anything which isn't top class.

Room Tip: All good, especially the comfort of the beds and linen. Spoil yourself with a lager room if you can.

A very rare sight of a hotel doubling up as some sort of a memorial is the case of Hotel New York in Rotterdam. The hotel is popular and hosts a restaurant area that can seat easily 400 people. The hotel also is used for many conferences and the seven meeting halls is a testimony to that. The hotel is resplendent with high ceilings and carries structures linked to industry and maritime. The pillars are tubular and other elements represent the sea. The building is located on the banks of the Mass River. The hotel offers free high speed Internet access. The hotel also offers a bar and a lounge area. The hotel’s business center is very popular. The hotel retains six original board rooms as a memorial for emigrants. Other exhibits include images of the emigrants and their belongings, including suitcases.

Went for the seafood and also because of the very much en vogue location. Seafood is outstanding, no other word for it. Service is good, clean and quick. Will be back and back. Nice touch to put poetry on the walls.
