Stayed in this Hotel 2 nights in december 2011. I booked a balcony room as i wanted to have a nice view and make pictures of the skyline by night. I had room 203. It was very nice. My friend came the day after and had room 204, wich was bigger but had a shower instead of a bath. It was different then mine, all rooms seem to be different, they all have this nice touch tho. The whole hotel breaths grandeur and good-old-times. Its a special atmosphere there. I think the service was very good. I booked a table for a high tea at 4 pm. I asked for a windowtable. She said she could not promis that because it gets very busy in the afternoon. I said i asked first...hahha. At 4 pm we were stilll shopping so i called the restaurant and told them we were gonna be late. We arrived at 5 pm to find the restaurant totally full, loaded with ppl...except one little table by the window. That was still empty for us. Now..THATS what i call service.

The beds sleep wonderfull, the view on the front of the hotel is amazing, food is great, breakfast is sufficient...just the coffee at breakfast is horrible!

I can not think of anything wrong with this Hotel, apart from the service being a little to 'cold' Very bussinesslike, they could at a peronal touch a bit. Other then that...perfect place to stay when visiting Rotterdam. Location is superb, do take the boattaxi to the shoppingarea!

My compliments, being Dutch, i am proud to have this Hotel in our country!

Room Tip: 201-205, the balcony rooms, are very nice, specially the view is perfect. My guess is, room 205 is t...

We went for lunch, and ate it in the central bar area. Loved the decor and ambience, you could sit there all day. The food was ok, we just didn't make the best choice, everyone else's looked better than ok.Could be quicker at clearing the tables in the bar. Free wi fi, a T Mobile hot spot. We had lunch and 3 drinks each, and it was £35. Would recommend going there, lovely place.

Mixed

We stayed at HNY on April 9 for 1 night and had the Easter arrangement.
The room was fine, looking over the parkingplace. Had 2 twin beds and a resaonable bathroom.
At check in we were asked at what time we want our Easter Brunch. We decided 09.00 o’clock should be fine.
Later that night, returning from Ono Japanese Restaurant, we asked the reception to change our breakfasttime to 10.00 hours. No problem.
We had a good sleep. At 10.00 o’clock we went to the breakfastrestaurant. Their was no brunch but the normal breakfast buffet. But, it was 10 o’clock and the breakfastbuffet was closed down. We told that reception made reserverations last night for 10 o’clock.
We could quickly make our choice. That was a very expensive breakfast, just 2 pancakes and a glass of milk for my son and a coffee (a good one), a slice of bread with a boiled egg for me. We had to pay € 26,00 for it. Shame.
At 12 we checked out.
At home we discoverd that we forgot to pack our sons ‘sleeping-mates’. Drama at home.
We called the hotel reception and they told us that one was found by housekeeping. No sign of the other one. The hotel checked the laundryservice. And 1 day later the hotel called us that the other ‘sleeping-mate’ was found. Great for THAT service.
So, we are a little mixed about our stay.

Singular building, the office of the Holland America line. Located at the end of the pier, it offers excellent views on the river. A bit far from the old city center by foot, it can be easily reached by watertaxi.
Fantastic early 20, end 19th century iron staircase, nicely decorated bedrooms, renovated bathrooms, this hotel has a lot of charm with all modern comfort (excellent beds, I did not check the wifi though). I definitely prefer the (more expensive) rooms with river view, on the side or in the front of the building.
The Breakfast buffet is impressive (you can also make your coffee-nespresso- or thea in your room by the way). The restaurant is quite good (one of my favorite place to eat razor clams) and the wines (mainly the whites) are OK, red glass by the wine not excellent (but question of taste). It can be noisy though when full (often the case at night), but the atmosphere is great, a real trip back in time.
Parking is not an issue (but you have to pay).

Room Tip: For the price difference, if you like the light, choose the ones alongside the river or in front of...

Breathtakingly designed hotel in the building of the embarkation of poor and persecuted European emigrants to the USA with the Holland America Line in the 19th century. Great vibrations, elegant, class, with many personal touches, elements of former times. Fantastic view from the Wilhelmina Pier. Ever since I found this hotel, quite by chance, some years ago, I never go anywhere else when in Rotterdam. In fact, when I have to travel to Rotterdam, I'm already looking forward to the hotel - which is a real compliment from someone who sleeps out 200+ nights/year. Is it perfect? No, the lighting could be better in some rooms. But it's better than perfect, it's real, it's lively and there is this special consciousness about being part of something bigger than life, part of the history of mankind. Very appeasing. The restaurant is a huge hall, with great ambiance and fantastic seafood.

Room Tip: The corner rooms ! They are not cheap, but frankly, the feeling , the view is just out of this world...

Love the atmosphere and surroundings. The beds are super! (I would like to have myself) In the summer you can sit at the terras with view on the waterside. Breakfast buffet is good but too expensive. It's nice to do the afternoon tea (you won't need dinner afterwards). Good choice of food which can be ordered from noon until late in the evening. Can recommend to take the watertaxi to the other side ore Leuvenhaven.
