As a Dutchman, living in the Far East, I don't have high expectations of service in Europe and little did I know that we picked a famous place to eat and catch up with friends.
I was pleasantly surprised.
We received top notch, efficient and friendly service by young people who made a tremendous effort. Much appreciated ladies ! The boss-man remembered my name at the end of the evening, which impressed me too (being in Holland), but I forgot to ask what his secret was. I used the valet service for my small rental car and noticed that I was not snubbed as I had experienced some time ago (in a now bankrupt restaurant).
Against my instinct we choose the surprise menu and it was great; really nothing else to say.
House wines are from bodega Norton (Mendoza, Argentina) the same I would drink at home when in Holland. Nothing special, but consistent good quality.
The meal was not inexpensive, but was excellent value for money.
We had a more than a lovely evening with a rate of service appropriate for our table. Some guests may find it somewhat slow.
