After a fifteen minute walk from the station the main entrance location was not obvious. Probably catered more for car and bus visitors.

As two adults we found the exhibits and history of the museum very interesting. We were recommended by work colleagues and on the agenda to visit for almost two years. We were not disapointed.

The variety of exhibits and being interactive makes this a museum to visit even with with young children. We noticed many running around with treasure hunt style learning books.

We 'phoned beforehand to ask about disabled parking, and were assured there were spaces. When we arrived at the only signposted car park (~300m from the entrance), we were reassured that this was indeed the correct car park for disabled access. After pushing the chair 300m in the wind and rain, we arrived at the Pesthuis. Outside were 2 empty disabled parking spaces!!! Apparently to reach them, you must go past the no entry signs and past the blood donor centrum on the dual carriageway just past the tunnel under the railway line - no signs of any Naturalis access, and not helpful at all!
After we dried off, we spent 5 minutes looking around the Pesthuis, then had an elevator ride and another 200m push across the road bridge to reach the first exhibits. From then on, the museum is well laid out, modern and spacious, and clearly targeted at primary age kids rather than serious natural history scholars or secondary/tertiary pupils. Lots of dinosaur skeletons and stuffed animals...

Excellent museum of natural history, mostly suitable for children. Adults without children will not find it so interesting. The exhibition is very dense and there are many many animals and exhibitions to see over a rather small area.
The design and beauty is extraordinary, a true wonderful educational experience for children and families.
Also very easy to reach by car or by public transportation.

Most of the explanations are written in Dutch and no English version is available.

While it is obvious from the reviews that this is a great place to take kids, I will mention that it is also staggeringly beautiful. I've grown up seeing a lot of taxidermy, but never so beautifully arranged or displayed. You can see a row of pigeons arranged to show the dance of their wings as they fly. There's a giant globe visible from two stories spinning at 100 times the speed of the actual earth, and the animals never looked stiff or haphazardly chosen. The museum is a work of art.

This museum is meant for families with (young) children. Adults won't learn anything new. Highly recommended for school trips, but not recommended for groups of adults only. On weekends and holidays, the museum is very busy, and there will be children running around everywhere.
