I don't understand much and wouldn't say I'm especially interested in exotic plants but this is a nice place :) I visited during open heritage days so the entrance was free, not sure how much it usually is. It's centrally located and easily accessible in a very picturesque are of Leiden is you ask me. They have some really nice plants inside.. impressive either because they've been around for so many year or because they're simply beautiful or because they lool interestingly weird like cactus that look like flowers :)
I can recommendation visiting the gardens!

Thank Katrin B

the renovated hothouses are not as lush as they were before the renovation but time will heal the wounds of renovation.
The japanese "Siebolt Memorial Garden" and fernery are some of my favorites in this historical garden.
One of the few gardens with free entrance for "museum-jaar-kaart"-(museum-pass) holders.
A good combination is nearby" Siebold-huis":museum of Japanese -Dutch connections.

This is a lovely little botanical garden, with a lot of plants and flowers to admire.
The most striking features, are, however, the GIGANTIC water lilies, called Victoria. Their sheer size is absolutely amazing.

The Hortus Botanicus is a beautiful and peaceful garden. There are many different types of plants, trees and flowers. There are also several nice and warm green houses, which is great in winter. When the weather is not too cold, you can enjoy a nice walk along the canal. You can also have a nice lunch at Grand Café Clusius. They serve local and organic food.

The 'hortus botanicus' is a magical place with a serene ambiance. It is one of my favorite spots in my hometown. There are trees here that are hundred years old. There is a beautiful rose garden which smells gorgeously in summer. There is a famous water lily, the 'Victoria Regina', which blooms only a few nights a year. Yes, nights! And be Hortus is open during those special nights. Also you will find gorgeous meat-eating plants.. It's a must see!
