The Bellevue hotel and restaurant undoubtedly has Dordrecht's best view - it overlooks the merger of the Merwede, Noord and Oude Maas rivers. The hotel is in the city's very centre, and has a beautiful terrace. On Sundays, the brasserie - which is on the mezzanine level - features a nice array of small dishes from which you easily can compose a full-size evening meal. That said, the brasserie is not that great - you'll have a trimmed view on the river, as you has to peek between the legs of the chairs and tables of the terrace to see some of it. Also, the brasserie is not that intimate, but for a business lunch or, as we did, the Sunday bargain, it is fine.

When I arrived at the brasserie of the Bellevue Hotel, it stopped raining and slowly the sun returned. This was a gift of nature because the brasserie (at the back of the hotel) is located in front of a crossing of three rivers, the good weather contributed to the wonderful view. The interior of the brasserie is modern but not cool. There is room for a lot of seats with view on the water, all visitors in the restaurants took this opportunity. The service by a young woman was good and pleasant, we asked some advice and explanation, no problem. In the end I took a plate with a variety of small snacks, delicious with a good balance of herbs and a perfect temperature. My small meal was topped with an excellent Leffe Blond on draught, cheers.

As we live nearby, we have tried many times to make this work. But there is horribly slow service in the Brasserie, I was embarrassed to have taken visiting friends there. On another occasion they not only forgot our reservation but forgot the birthday dessert my husband requested, twice. No one is ever at the front desk of the hotel. Email inquiry to book multiple rooms never answered. However, the more expensive Restaurant Blanc IS very good, with better service and a lovely view.

A busy but enjoayble meal, food was excellent and if you didn't want to eat off the Al a Carte menu you can order from the Brassiere menu.

Bellevue is located at one of the busiest river crossings in Europe. We regularly do lunch here and I went for dinner last Thursday. Bellevue has 2 restaurants; a more casual brasserie and the more stylish "Blanc" restaurant on the first floor wit spectacular river views. We were lucky. I reserved to eat at the Brasserie but we were given great seats at Blanc! For 23,50€ we had a very good 3 course meal which included salmon and shrimp. I will definitly come back.
