Was really disappointed tonight and this used to be one of my top 3 in Delft. They got our order wrong, then after having told them twice that I was allergic to shellfish and clarified what that meant, they served me scallops. They did replace this with guinea fowl, but did not change the wine to match it - we had chosen the surprise menu with matching wines. Service was slow, with the wines being served well in advance of the food - maybe to get us to order more wine... Overall unimpressed - a real shame

The restaurant is situated in a little quiet corner in Delft, not so difficult to find if you take the right street right from the beginning. Nice decor, friendly service, they even spoke a little bit of French as soon as they noticed that we had some French spoken people in our group.

As it was for a retirement party, we had the lounge on the first floor all for ourselves. Very cosy, but beware of the staircase, tall people be careful... but they warn you right away as soon as they know that you will go upstairs. That is in fact the only little negative point, but somehow this staircase goes with the decor.

The food was delicate, nicely served, each course explained beforehand by the young lady who was looking after us. Original preparations, well cooked, nicely dressed. It is not for somebody who expects to get huge plates full of food, but you don't go hungry away either. And a nice gesture, they servce several breads on a board, with knife and butter. So somebody of the group has to do the carving and serving. Believe me, this bread was a hit!

All in all a very nice experience and I will certainly go there again.

Interesting place, tucked away through an archway, but very good service, food consistently excellent, and prices reasonable. Look out for the special offers on their website.

Being located in a small street just inside the centre of Delft we didn't know what to expect. I have know the name for years, but have never eaten there. The first time we entered we liked what we saw. This very old house (build in 1286) with it's atmophere still there around the nice wooden tables giving you the sense to relax. Not to be to formal and enjoy your stay. The kitchen at the back is open so you can see what they do, which gives us a more homelike feeling. That feeling is extended with their delicious homemade bread, which is served on every table. You can order a la carte or choose the 3 or 4 course diner. Every course has it's own wine, which makes it special. The waiters explain every course before serving and explain why this type of wine is served with it. The food is delicious. When we visit Delft we have to go there to eat. And every time we leave satisfied.

We had a dinner provided for 30 of us at the Van der Dussen after working in Delft. Take a boat trip round the canals first to get the full flavour of the history and then enjoy the decor, fine service and good food at the Van der Dussen.
