Delft pottery is famous around the world. De Delftse Pauw specializes in hand crafted, hand painted porcelain. It is quite expensive but a great souvenir of Holland

We were treated to a personal tour of the factory, how delft pottery is made, met the people hand painting the pottery and then could browse a great showroom. Thank you for a great tour and a great way to start our visit to delft. Well worth the visit.

The visitor information centre in Delft pointed out the two locations we could visit to see how Delftware is created, we chose the smaller of those, a nice walk through town and along the Rijn watching the boats out for a Sunday outing. Our friendly personable guide, Jacquelin, was thoroughly engaging and informative - in our private tour we learned how Delftware is hand-crafted and painted as well as it's historical origins. One certainly gains an appreciation of the labor-intensive skills that go into making their high-quality goods. A tour bus load of people took the tour right behind us, so groups small and large are welcome.

(de Pauw means 'the peacock' and you will see beautiful paintings of them on their various items for sale and show)

This is a small operation that offers very informal tours as you arrive. The two of us got a private tour with one of the managers who explained every step of the process and was eager to answer questions. Hugely informative. They had a small shop as well. After going here we saw no reason to pay for the tour at the Royal Delft factory, I cannot imagine there could be more info given out. If you only have time to visit one of the two, go here.
