Owner description: In the middle of the Market you will find the new Church in Delft. This church dates back to 1300 and is famous for the tomb of William the silent and Royal crypt where most members of the Dutch Royal family are buried. In the Church is a scale model of the crypt. You can also climb the Tower of the Church and once at the top you can enjoy a wonderful view of Delft and the surrounding area.

The stairs are steep and winding and there's like 350 of them, but the view is amazing, you get to see the inner workings of the clock and the old bells. The inside of the church is nice as well with a brief overview of the building, but the tower is great.

We went to the church itself, which was amazing for it's stained glass and monuments, although climbing the church tower was the highlight! Although the steps were narrow, the view from the top was amazing! We enjoyed every minute!

I bashed my head on a beam trying to climb to the top of this church. The stairs are so narrow that you had to stop often to let people pass you going in the opposite direction. At the top, the wind was so fierce that I was worried that it would blow my contact lenses out of my eyes. Through my squinting eyes, the view was terrific.

The church carries (what I felt was) a rather hefty admission fee--3,50 Euro per person which does not include admission to the tower (another 3 euro). Inside, the church is quite plain other than holding the tomb of William of Orange.

The outside of the church is much more interesting as is the beautiful square in which it sits.

First to bring this to your attention - IF YOU PAY TO ENTER THE NEW CHURCH AND RETAIN YOUR TICKET YOU CAN ALSO ENTER THE OLD CHURCH AT NO EXTRA COST. We didn't realise this until a nice couple behind us pointed this out. It is definitely worth looking around and is quite different to the old church. As you can enter them both for one ticket I would definitely recommend visiting both.
