“Decent modern hotel walking distance from Delft old town”
Reviewed August 18, 2010

Westcord is a comfortable modern hotel in an average location. It's right by the motorway next to a huge Ikea store, but walking distance from old Delft, and convenient for travel by car to other places in the Randstad. The hotel is nicely furnished in a cool modern style, the rooms are good and there is a reasonable restaurant. The staff are hit and miss, some friendly but some not especially helpful. Overall a decent place in a convenient, if not quite charming, location.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Westcord Hotel for eight days whilst visiting family and friends who live nearby (15 mins by car) We only required room only which was very clean and comfortable,(unusual bathroom door though, half frosted glass.)
On one occasion we ate an evening meal at the hotel, the menu was very limited though, we were told that the resident chef was 'stuck in traffic in France'.... very unusual excuse, anyway, the meal arrived eventually but it was a very small portion of instant mashed potato,a tiny portion of grilled chicken and some diced mixed vegetables, nice but very small, then the bill : 42 Euro's and 60 cents, after dinner we walked over to IKEA and had hot dogs for 50 cents each because we were still hungry, We never ate at the hotel again far too expensive also the bar prices are again very expensive 3 Euro's 75 cents for a small bottle of Heineken. We also found it strange that the hotel would'nt cash travellers cheques, we were advised to find a bank (This was Friday evening) we had to borrow money off our family until the Monday morning.
Anyway, that was the bad points, now some good points : the hotel was very clean facility's are good and the staff very friendly especially the young receptionist who's name I believe is 'Anja' she was so helpful and friendly and offered a lot of advice to my partner and I about the local area and Delft.
We will probably stay there again maybe next year.

The Westcord hotel is a huge business hotel with over 140 rooms near the E13/A19 motorway (between The Hague and Rotterdam). It is about 8 min. by bus to the city centre and about 10 min. to the central train station. Bus 80 and 82 go into the direction of the city centre/railway station which means 4 times per hour through the day but less in the evening and in the weekend (timetable is to have at the reception). The hotel borders on a large park and has its free parking.
It has a large lounge/entrance hall with reception and bar and running out into the large breakfast room/restaurant with a rather cosy atmopshere. The heated terrace also provides a lovely spot where you can have your breakfast outside. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the property. There is a fitness centre too which we did not use.
Entering the hotel you are kindly welcomed and check in/check out went very smoothly. All staff is very kind and helpful.
Our room (531) was very large and well decorated (Ikea style) and had the best working airconditioner I ever had with hardly any noise, even on level 3. The temperature in the room in rather high so airconditioning is a very welcoming service and undoubltedly a must on really hot days. The room has a large double bed with two rather soft mattresses, but we slept very well on them. The room is absolutely soundproofed with a view on other rooms and fire-escape. There is a fridge, a working table, a LCD TV, and a large cupboard with tea/coffee facilities and a save in it. The bathroom is large too, with a wash stand, toilet and a good wolring shower. A minor negative point is the open side of the shower cabin with no treshold so the floor will be partly wet after showering (mind your towels not becoming wet). The bathroom has four towels and only liguid soap. Room and bathroom are impeccable clean, although the room was not cleaned on Saturday.
Hot/cold breakfast is very good and abundant. Several kinds of really fresh bread even on Sunday, different kind of curds, jam, meat and cheese products and drinks. We once had dinner which was good/very good. If breakfast is not included in the price you have to pay 13,00 euro p.p. which is rather much. We had an ‘all in’ offer by weekendcompany.nl at a very competive price. Moreover the hotel has its offers too.
All in all a very recommendable hotel. The distance to the city centre ought not to be a problem, the more you can rent a bike.
Tip: the tourist office organizes a canal and walking tour (45 mins. by boat and 1 hour by foot) at 10,00 euro p.p.

Hotel Delft is a modern styled hotel (styled by Ikea). It feels like home (I also have a lot of Ikea accessories at home). The freeway is next to the hotel, but there is a glass wall for the noise. So you don’t even notice the freeways. The benefit is that it’s easy to reach by car.
The staff is really nice and helpful and the rooms are clean. The city of Delft is beautiful, with the canals. I Enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is clean and comfortable, but the location is bad. The hotel sits by the freeway with nothing but an Ikea store in walking distance. The historic town of Delt is an approximately 20 minute walk. The nearest supermarket is a couple of bus stops away. Food at the hotel restaurant is OK, but menu selections are few. Expect to pay between 15-20 Euros for a dinner main course, and 12 Euros for an OK buffet style breakfast. Prices at the hotel's bar are high:.4 Euros for a bottle of Henieken, or 13 Euros for double Sctoch. Pluses? The hotel staff is friendly, and the beds are comfortable. That is about it. While the hotel lists internet, workout facilitites and sauna as part of their ammenitites, these are not included in the price. Internet is 12.50 EUR per day or 5 EUR per hour, and the fitness center/sauna are 5 EUR/day. I would not stay at this hotel again.

What a place - when we initially approached the hotel I thought we had made a mistake telling the taxi driver where to go. The hotel is right next to a massive Ikea complex and but for the Tulip Inn sign on the front you would never know it was a hotel. The carpark even looks like part of the Ikea complex.
Wide open reception area with 'fast check in' machines for those that don't want to check in at the counter! Staff were polite but a little off hand and not over welcoming. I think the hotel caters for a lot of conferences, one of which was held when we were there.
The rooms and decor of the entire place is like you have stepped into an Ikea catalogue. Amazing! Our room overlooked the central courtyard area and into the dining room. The hall window looked out to the Ikea store, just in case you didn't remember where you were!
The room was quite spacious with a bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom door was only half frosted glass - interesting concept!
There was an ironing board available for delivery to the room and internet access in the rooms if you had a computer. Use of hotel computer was quite expensive. There was also an in room safe.
The hotel was about a 10 -15min walk out of Delft - not a problem to us, we loved the walk into town and Delft was such a pretty place. We liked it better than Amsterdam.
The restaurant was OK, we had one meal there at night. Breakfast was the usual help yourself affair with good variety.
I would recommend the hotel, but it would be good to see the staff cater a little more for the tourist trade by being a little more welcoming and offering a little more information about tourist activities etc. It's worth staying just to have a look at the decor!
