You must reserve to visit this house, but it is WELL worth it. It's quite fascinating, and well-preserved. It's like being inside a transforming sculpture. Audio tour in English (etc.) very informative.

“Amazing example of functionalistic architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

I really enjoyed the Rietveld Schroder house. It is simply an amazing building and you would not believe it was actually built in 1924. The upper part with closeable partitions of the large open space is the most interesting. Really difficult to describe everything, try googling the pictures of the house and go and see for yourself.

The visitors centre has interesting materials and a movie you can watch before going to see the house. The exhibition itself is conducted by a lady working for the museum who opens the doors for you, but you listen to the audio guide. As opposed to the Villa Tugendhadt, there is a very reasonable amount of visitors per visit so you are not squeezing through tiny corridors with many other fellow visitors. Well thought and well paced, informative and interesting. Do go.

“A must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

A genius design example. One of the most important visits in Utrecht. Rietveld was obviously well ahead of his time and a genius. Go at he time you are given an appointment and watch the film as well. You can visit this as part of your combined ticket to the Central Museum.

“Fascinating and eye-opening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

Apparently we lucked out because it was not standard to see the 'transformation' of the house during the audio tour. But that was the absolute best part - You can imagine it on the audio-tour but it's just amazing to see. So I guess I suggest to do the guided tour.
