“Wonderful accommodations just outside Utrecht”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Sylvia and Ebert were delightful, warm, welcoming hosts. After a long, cold day of cycling in the rain, their lovely penthouse room with views of the canal and the municipal hall were a delight. We were very comfortable in the room and enjoyed looking at the rooftop terrace with chaises longues, even if the rain prevented us from using them. The upper level was well furnished, with a comfortable bed, an intimate dining table and chairs for two people, a sitting area with futon, and a small supply of toiletries in case anything was forgotten at home.

Breakfast in the morning is abundant and good: eggs any way you like them, a heaping basket of breads and croissants, cold cuts, cheese, jam and butter, tea, coffee, and fresh fruit. For two cyclists about to get back on the trail, breakfast was hearty and perfect.

The only caveats are: this B&B is not in the center of Utrecht. For those who are coming to Utrecht on a bike from the north (say, from Amsterdam), having a B&B just outside (and before!) the city is a blessing. If you are interested in being in the very center of town at all times, this is probably not the ideal location. And, as with many Dutch houses, be prepared to go up some steep stairs. If you are confident in your ability to manage some stairs, you'll enjoy your stay here.

We highly recommend Sylvia and Ebert's hospitality and their B&B.
