The Hof is a pleasant and historically relevant square at the heart of Amersfoort's old city. It is not large (but much larger than the other nearby square: Onze Lieve Vrouwen Hof) and has a range of beautiful old buildings. Many have been converted into restaurants or pubs and when the weather allows, these place chairs and tables outside for drinks. This can make the place somewhat commercial and full, but prices are modest and the views are still good.
Perhaps the best day is to visit the square on Saturday, when an o[pen-air market is held. One can see less of the buildings because of the many market stalls, but the atmosphere is pleasant.
Don't forget to visit the church, which is interesting from an historical point of view. And don't forget to visit the nearby Onze Lieve Vrouwen Hof, which is much more intimate. The best tome to visit this square is Friday morning, when the flower market is held.

One of a few charming squares in Amersfoort this is the main and largest one, (the other's beside the Bell Tower and also worth visiting).
A large space surrounded by shops, cafe's and restaurants its always busy and really comes alive at night and especially weekends. Jammed with bicycles and people late into the night it's perfect for a coffee or a cold beer anytime. Weekend markets are as good as in France filled with a mouth watering array of produce, butchers, fish mongers, cheese vendors, bakers , fruit and veg you name it, it's here.

Picturesque square with a church that really rings the changes with its bell ringing, not so good when you live on the square mind you, but perfect when sitting outside with beer and bitterbollen. nice cafes and bars though avoid Rox as rude owner

This place is always fun to visit. There are weekly markets on friday and saturdaymorning. On thursday, friday and especially saturday evening/night there are lots of people going to bars and clubs. On sunny days there are lots of terraces to enjoy the sun and a drink. And ofcourse there are lots of restaurants to choose from.
In the middle of the place is a waterfountain with the shape of a head.

Surrounded by restaurants and bars. There is a market on every Friday morning and every Saturday. Recommended things to buy from the market are cheese, fish and fresh fruits and vegetables.
