Our first visit to Amersfoort on a busy Saturday when the market is in full swing and a carnival atmosphere throughout the town. What a delightful place for the unsuspecting tourist! We found the Eethuis quite by chance in a corner of the Hof (courtyard) which was busy with market stalls. In a still chilly but sunny April, most of the outside tables were taken, but we found room inside and ordered various soups and sandwiches for lunch. Delicious, and not nearly so expensive as others might have suggested. A large bowl of soup comes with bread (Broodje) for €5. Large baguettes are €7 ish. Service was "leisurely" but courteous and friendly and we were encouraged to try our Dutch language skills with patience. A very pleasant lunch break.
