“Excellent Value”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

It is a new, basic, clean, comfortable hotel, it has a flat screen TV and free WiFi shower room and air-con & the hotel food is good and reasonable price it is easy to get to and is only a few minutes from the station. To get into Zaandam you have to walk back through the station. Zaandam is a lovely town with a waterway down the main street with many shops leading to Damm square which has lots of lovely restaurants. Can recommend The Mail Company has excellent sandwiches and snacks, The Wok Chinese buffet restaurant with suchi, sashimi & top quality meats and fish to cook wok or teppanaki style and the Spanish Tapas restaurant opposite the back of Etam. A good trip is to Zaanse Schans to see the Windmills, wooden building and local heritage, takes about 7/8 minutes on the bus, well worth it.
We will definitely stay at the Zaan Inn Hotel again which is excellent value for money, we have stayed at Inntels before which is very good and more convenient to Zaandam but is twice the price.

On arrival at Zaandam train station, which is less than 15 mins from the centre of Amsterdam, you turn right for the colourful and much improved centre of Zaandam. Then like getting on an aeroplane, and wishing you were going to turn left, you have to turn right to head to the Zaan Inn.
Firstly, you cannot beat the value for money that the Zaan Inn gives, based on the cost of hotels in general in the Amsterdam area. If you paid this amount of money in Amsterdam, I can imagine you would be sharing with 9 other back packers or your stay in the room would be quite brief and involve more than just the exchange of money.
The hotel is very clean, and modern with nice minimal decor. The rooms have all the bare minimum you need including large plasma TV, bed, shower, loo and air-con. The bar area and restaurant have clearly had effort put into for the presentation and offering.
The breakfast really did let down the offering, as this was terrible with a lot of the food poorly made, run out, or of a low quality. Drinking orange juice from paper cups really does make you mis home (I'm a business traveller), and realise that this is a hotel that you wouldn't typically be staying at by choice.
The surrounding vicinity really does make you feel like you are staying in a post-war communist era country. I can imagine in winter time a trench coat would come in handy.
Next time I hope I will be turning left when I exit Zaandam station...

It was a pleasant experience spending my 5 nights at the Zaan inn hotel, just a 2 stops train to Amsterdam central station, 18 minutes to schipool airport. The Hotel is a new built and has all the comforts, the rooms have a comfy bed, air-con controlled in the room, a good bathroom with shower, and a lcd tv.
The Zandam area is a pretty neighbourhood, really enjoyed walking around the shopping street, lots of shops and food bars available, also near by there are the old windmills available to visit by bicycle or even by foot if you like to walk.
Overall it was very good, I would return to the same hotel for few more nights.

Zaan Inn is a modern, spacious, new built hotel with big comfortable rooms. It is located by the Zaandam train station that gets to Amsterdam downtown within 12 minutes (4-5 times/hour, operating until 1.00 am) with a direct link to Schiphol as well. This makes your stay easy and more affordable than staying in downtown Amsterdam. I would recommend it to people who don't mind missing Amsterdam's nightlife after 1.00 am and are satisfied having an affordable base for visiting places, shopping and some relaxed time. Zaandam town offers some smaller options for shopping and dining too.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in April. We paid £140ea for 4 nights including flights from the uk. The hotel has recently been fully refurbished and it is of an excellent standard. Extremely modern decor, lovely bar and separate smoking room. We were on the first floor near the luggage room. Friendly helpful staff and they are a credit to the hotel. It's around 10 mins from Centraal Station and is a very easy journey on the train. It cost around €10 return for the 2 of us. If you are getting the train to the hotel for the first time there are 2 exits from Zaandam station. You turn right or left once you are off the platform, Zaan Inn is to the right and a 2 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone.

the hotel is nice and clean, it is well connected to Amsterdam centre by train:
The staff is nice and kind, only the restaurant is not open until 2 pm!
No minibar in the rooms but in the hall there is a machine for buying useful goods, from toothpaste to raincoat.

we relly didn't know what to expect from this hotel as the reviews were so mixed. I wished we hadn't worried, it was the best value hotel we have ever stayed in and we do travel regularly. We got a great deal and only paid about 80 euros for 3 nights in a suit, I can't see it being priced as cheap as this for long and can only assume it's because it's new and not very well known. There was only one down side and that was where it was situated. The hotel is at the back of a carpark and looks more like an office block, to me the entrance is on the wrong side. As long as you look at a picture of the outside of the hotel before you get there you should be ok. as you come off the train and up the stairs, turn right, go down the stairs and follow the path to the right, you will see it between some buildings behind the carpark. Hotel- very clean, room cleaned daily, fresh towels, massive bed! large flat screen tv, safe, fridge, kettle. We had no problem with the lack of heat, in fact it was the oposite but the suite had air con too. Had a beautiful meal in the restaurant, pork in satay sauce, highly recommended! prices not too bad, on average with meals anywhere around this area. Would not book any other hotel if we were to visit Amsterdam again. The staff were all great too especially the guy in the restaurant who had a little accident with the wine, couldn't be more apologetic and insisted on making me a lovely cup of coffee. thank you. great stay and would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Room Tip: suite are very spacious with everything you could possibly need for a short break
